Is there a way to unadopt a child?
Curious if there is a way to mark an adopted child as not adopted so you could get a new one.

Just curious - Why do you want to unadopt a child for a new one?

I don't have a problem killing the child, but here is the problem with that, if you kill the kid they're still marked as adopted, so you can't get another and you still come out down one kid. Simply killing them wont allow me to get another.

And I want a new one because my boy complains all the time and sweet Sophie is begging and freezing in Windhelm. Sure I have 4 open beds in my house, but still can't have more then two kids.

Simply press the console button and click on your child then type kill and press enter :D

Open console. Click on child. Type "disable" without the annotations. There you go.

As I mentioned, simply killing the child doesn't enable you to adopt a new one, so that does not work.

As far as disable goes, to my knowledge, it wont work either because it doesn't actually remove items, it just makes them not show up (checked this when I was trying to get rid of the blood dragon load glitch in Whiterun) and you have to use markfordelete to get rid of things. However, I can't see markfordelete working either because like kill, while the child might be gone I think it would still mark my game as having addopted two children and unable to get another.

I wonder if there is a line you can put into the console that might be something like, set number of adopted children to 1 or something to that effect. I remember doing something similar in one of the fallout games with followers and a buggy mod. When I removed the mod I had to set my animal followers number to 0 using the console.
I didn't look at this in the CK because if I reinstall it I will stay in it forever but I think that in fact the adopted children are a quest, with some variables like the ID of the adopted children as an alias and so on. In this case, the quest could be reseted with "resetquest" if you have the questID.
