Several Skill books not working when read?

Has anyone had this problem? It's happened to 2 out of the last three books and my skills were not 100!

Have you already come across the books before?...Because you only get the skill once....

There's a mod on the nexus that indicates which books you've read before by lighting it up...

As far as I'm aware...you only get the skill once for reading that given book...otherwise you could keep picking the book up and putting it down to just stand there grinding your skills up, couldn't you.....

That's my guess, that you have already read those books...you'll have to figure out what you have or have not read, play on...and see what happens with the next few books you come across...

This is where the oldschool hardcore gamer in me comes out: Use a pencil and paper, to begin cataloguing all the books you've read...

Also, the wiki describes all skillbooks in the game, infact ALL books in total, so you know what skills certain books give, and what books you can ignore...(I read all books as they make the game richer, can uncover hidden knowledge about things, and also uncover map locations sometimes...)

I get you as far as reading the book once, didnt know there were duplicate skill books in the game. I know its an illusion skill book because i have the guide which tells me what ill get out of any area but dont know if ive ever read it before. :(

I'm surprised in your first comment you told me about a mod on nexus as i followed your advice to another noob to mods probably a mth ago and you told them nexus was pretty much the devil?!

Told her to start out with Climites of tamriel...Night eye and night eye blur removal? I have these and must admit its a pain in the butt to have to use at night and not sure it's worth it. Do you still stand behind that advice and do you still believe Nexus to be bad?

Well, for starters I didn't say nexus was the devil...and everyone has a sceptical pov when first encountering something...especially when that first encounter causes problems for you...

I'm sorry you don't understand how to use the mods there very well, but in time, I'm sure you'll get to grips with how to use mods properly...maybe...

But I really don't see what scrutinising me has to do with your ''problem'' over books...perhaps if you weren't a troll, and a derp who didn't realise that the book gives you a skill ONCE, oh, and that you went digging up dirt on me, I wouldn't have told you to go f**k yourself just now eh?....

Wow....i was not attacking you or digging dirt up on you!! As a matter of fact i have you written down as someone who gave "advice" that i took!! That's why i "Wondered" if you still felt the same way about Nexus? because i copied and pasted your instructions to that person so i could follow them myself...and they wound up getting the mods i listed from nexus and you told them congratulations.....something bad!! Seriously, explain to me then, why you did dig that up on me and go on, in this COMPLETELY unrelated thread, about my thoughts on the nexus when you are clearly asking about skill books, if not to troll....

I give you sound and helpful advice on your problem, which isn't a problem anymore, because I helped you, then in turn you dig up negative stuff I have said sometime in the past about my opinion on the nexus and openly discuss it on this thread, manipulating what I said?...

First...thank you @Pieni Musu....he is seriously misunderstanding me!!

@Master Dan....I'm sorry you are obviously regretting previous comments.....your right you gave me advice and i acknowledged that in my first line of my second reply...as that topic was now over i commented on being surprised that you suggested a mod on nexus because of what i stated above and wondered if you still felt the same...plain and simple!!!

You think you're the only one who has opinions pro and CON on Nexus?? I was simply asking if you still felt the same way as I want to make my own decision on nexus based of others experiences...i didnt manipulate anything....i have what you wrote as i said because i used it!! not to dig up dirt on you?? What do i gain by that?? What dirt for that matter??

To get back on track guys!
There are two copies of each named skill book in the game and five named skill books for each skill.
AS [TOFK]MAster Dan has already stated if you have read one copy and received the skill point then if you find and read the second copy nothing happens.

Okay, so what if I start a new character. Those skill books still don't work? That's the issue I'm running into.

I'm having this problem too. I wonder if it may be related to the "Unread Books Glow" mod.
