Look at something you found eralier, after you killed a big spider....it is in your inventory :)

It's on the golden claw, the guy that was trapped by the giant spider has it. Get the claw and examine it for the proper order.

This is very dumb of Bethesda...because there is no clear image of the claw's details by looking at it in your inventory. If you could drop it, you could probably see it very easily, as it is very large, but you can't drop it :/

Not only do you have to figure out to look at the claw (which is fair enough, I mean I did) But you have to NOTICE and even be able to MAKE OUT the symbols embossed in the claw's palm.

You will notice that you can JUUUUUST about make out the top two, but the 3rd is pretty much guess work. Ok, it isn't impossible to use elimination on combination #3, but not everyone is as Laterally set as that....there are younger players who just aren't gonna get it, evedently, this is the case, but meh..spilt milk and all.....

This kind of thing is why I'm glad other people write FAQs if I'm not feeling like figuring things out on my own.

Just a case of going through the combinations after working out that the claw is the key. Takes a little time but is solvable with patience. Turn each circle one at a time and try the key.

Also about not being able to make out the third one? you do realize you can check out the item, I forgot the vanilla button and what not for it, but then you can move it around and study it.

Every claw you pick up/get, look at it in you'r inventory. If you zoom in, you will see the symbols and their correct order (top to bottom).

Every ruin will have a clue (or several clues), which can be all over. Some are even in books laying near the puzzles, so always search and take you'r time.

That's interesting, what's more, it's interesting how that doesn't even feature in the controls options. Is it an American thing, to not be bothered showing a complete menu of the controls?...

In inventory while looking at the claw (or any object) press the "C" key, that will bring it closer to you so you can see it better. Then use the mouse to turn it so that you can look at it better.

Look at the golden claw in your inventory to see the code. If you can't see the pattern exactly then click and hold on the item model to move it around to get a better look.

The code is in the plam of claw. there three animal figures on the claw closer to start of fingers is outer ring (easy as pie) Remember the claw must be used in the centre of door.

You can push the scroll wheel on your mouse to enlarge the items to the screen. Or you just simply need new glasses. As i can see the symbols clear enough even in the small inventory screen, including the third symbol.

seeing as I looked at it without 'zooming' and got it right 1st time..I think my eyesight is pretty good.

You might wanna work on your manners tho, or just need a good punch in the mouth, either will do for you. :)
