Ulfric - A fun Dialog.
When I'm ready to start again, I've been thinking through my plan.

I find I'm not impressed with Ulfric - because of the way he took down the Jarl of Solitude. It was by far - not a fair challenge, by any Nord Standard. Basically he seriously CHEATED big time.

In a fair fight - would Ulfric have won? Would he even bother to have taken on the Solitude Leader?

Then I found his racial prejudice a tad annoying too ... So I think, personally I'm going to "take him down" in the next play through.

Any comments? Remember this is for fun .... :)

How was it not a fair challange. He killed the high king in fair combat, such is the way, the way it has always been for true nords

Ulfric had the Thu'um Torygg did nto. "All's fair in love and war" but in a duel or a one on one challenge both participants should be armed exactly the same, specially in a duel. Such as the brawl challenges in the game. Fist only, no weapons and none of that magic stuff.

Oops meant to say Torygg did not. Fat fingers. :P

Honest Question - We are lead to believe (based on what I read) that the High King did not know the 'way of the voice' - at least, again that is what I gathered.... so that would be 'fair' how? Sword on Sword would have been fair - fist-a-cuffs would have been fair.

But the "Way of the Voice" is like a .44 taking on a Sword ... the .44 would win, hands down.

In the game when we take on Fist Fights ... it is clearly stated: NO MAGIC or other items .. to keep the fight on a level playing field. :)

Actually in duels in medieval times and before combatants would be armed with their own weapon. This meant that one could be wearing heavy plate with a two handed broadsword while another was wearing a leather jerkin and wielding a dagger. This would still be a proper duel. The combatants weapons and equiment where as important as there skill. It's the same in Skyrim.

The only reason I've sided with the Stormcloaks is because everytime I pass an Imperial camp they threaten to kill me, and if I don't move fast enough they actually fight me.

I have not taken sides in the past and the Stormcloaks attacked me .. o O ... Even when one case where I helped them w/a dragon attack. There was NO friendly fire, as I shot arrows directly at the dragon and hit all four times - Strong poison - and they attacked me! LOL ... Imp's have always treated me "cold" but nice.... Hmmm .... maybe the Stormcloaks don't like Mage's or the Dragonborn??????

My character this time is khajiit archer, propbably the Imperials just don't like khajiit.

I actually understand where you are coming from .... and for the most part agree ... but I still the Thu'um being a "Cheat" as there is no weapon that can stand up to that .... and in a fight (Fair) you also can give educated guesses as to the choices of armor and weapons the other side might take / make - Thu'um being left out of the picture.... But again, I do understand where you are coming from .....

You guys have clearly not been reading the history of the Nord race in the Elder Scrolls, the old Nords or whatever they were called USED the voice to take over Tamriel until the gods were pissed-drunk-mad at them which is how they lost to the Dunmer I think.

And that is one of the reasons why Windcaller made The Way of the Voice, aka the Greybeards.

That is like saying its Ulfrics fault for having huge muscles and Torygg for having small ones. The Thuum is a skill one learns and a natural part of ones body. Trashing him for that is like as I said trashing him for being physically stronger which was the whole point of the battle!

I have never faulted Ulfric for using his abilities in his power grab. Where I did find issue was where Ulfric left instead of dealing with the consequences. Many people died due to those actions playing right into the hands of the Thalmor.

i'm imperials all the way through. all Ulfric does is sit around in his castle playing "king" with a bunch of men
as for who would win in a so-called "fair" fight. i can't say cuz i have no idea if torygg is a good fighter or not because he's off in sovngarde playing with tsun and getting stoned. seriusly his expression makes him look like a stoner to me
