The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Loading a save, then game crashes. Anyone got a fix?
Title pretty much says it all. I have verified cache within the game properties, loaded specific saves, loaded from 'continue' and game still crashes. Not sure what I'm doing wrong or what's wrong with the game. I wanna get this working so I can continue with my Dawnguard series I'm doing for YouTube :P

I have this problem too; I started with a fresh install and very few mods. Yes, Ive already checked load order for my 15 mods, and they are in the correct order.

I found that the saves are pretty flimsy and prone to corrupting. I was able to resurrect a save game by reloading from a previous save, then deleting the quicksave and main save and create a new set using the $savegame "x" command in the console. Hopefully you have a save to go to that isnt that far, and this trick will work for you too!
Me too i dont trust loading autosaves anymore.. :/ i guess i capped my ram usage too much
Another thing; ive found that if i die and the game automatically loads a save and it crashes it somehow marks that save and will crash every subsequent time. Had to burn a few saves to get that to work.
To OP: Are you using any mods?

To @Super Average: Even if you play around with your load order, some mods will still conflict with eachother no matter what. The only way to know for sure if it is caused by a mod conflict is by deactivating the mods one by one. If you are using mods from other places than the workshop, then you only need to deactivate the last few mods you installed/updated, and see if that works. If you are using mods from the workshop, that complicates things due to the auto update "feature". A mod conflict that wasn't originally there might have arisen after an automatic update. And since there is no way to know which, you would need to uninstall all your mods, one at a time, and then see if the game works again - as soon as it does, you can again reinstall all the mods, one at a time, until the sae problem arises again - then you know the mod causing the mod conflict.

It can however, simply be a corrupted save. This happens somethimes, and what you want to do to find out whether this is really the case or not is to:
1) Try to reload a different, earlier save if you have one.
2) Start a new game, and immediately save. Try to reload that saved game.
If the problem persists in these two different cases, then it isn't a problem due to a corrupted save.

I am only using about 5 mods. I havent tried loading a save from way back yet. I'll try that and see.
Yeah, nah. I removed my save games, uninstalled > redownloaded the game and put the saves back. This did not work either...

Any other suggestions?
what the hell is a load grid??
sorry named it wrong but its this uGridsToLoad=11 defualt is 5
should be in the ini or pref and if u save a file with example uGridsToLoad=11 u can not load it up when u switch it down to uGridsToLoad=5
in the console command by ` setini "ugridstoload:general" 5
than save your character. than manually change it in the ini notepad

Don't go into files if you don't know what to do
Kurari what are the five mods you have on?
Deactivated them
Remove all saves games from C: drive. Backup savesones as well
Restart game at start
Get through Helgen and save game.
Add one mod at time.
Start at that save and see what happens if OK exit without save and add another mod on etc..
If game crashes you then know which mod it is and can remove entirely.
Load order should be :-
ESM'S
DLC's
Dawnguard
Hearthfires
Dragonborn
HR Texture packs 1, 2 and 3
Unofficial patches
USP
DGP
HFP
DBP
Then your mods
ESP's
At least this organises the load order (then it becomes mods only that causes the crashes)
Read mod description, simular mods will cause problems, so choose carefully.
REMEMBER not all mods are made by one person so there will be clashes.
Try to use mods made by certain modders (or same modder (less problems))and who have a greater downloadable tick along side of them.
Sorry, I have 6 mods.

"Zahkrii - Blade of the Dragonborn"
"Arrow Speed Enhanced - Vanilla Edition"
"Arrow Speed Enhanced - Dawnguard Edition"
"Arrow Speed Enhanced - Dragonborn Edition"
"Richer Merchants"
"Normandy"

Just saying, this mod setup has been used for a very long time. My saves not loading is a recent problem I have encountered for the first time.

I'll try this ' uGridsToLoad' thing, see if it works...

Ok, So I decided that I was going to load each save from the most recent, down. I hit a save that did load and wasn't too far off from the recent one's save point. Not sure what's wrong there but the game still runs.
Hi when you loaded the arrow speed Enchanced did the next one override the previous if so remove the other two because it will be in the last one one you installed. I would bet that it is the problem and only happens in a place where there is a clash.
Not sure on the others do not have on but the sword one should be OK .
Basically the richer merchants is more coins etc.
Normandy I do not know!
Are the arrow mods from same modder?

Normany just has the 'Normandy' ship from Mass Effect crashed near Whiterun. The arrow mods are from the same modder.
Did you load the arrow mods on NMM? if you did, did it ask to overwrite previous mod
I don't use the Nexus Mod Manager.
