if a essential character is dead or constantly going down and standing back up or just staying down open the console, click the said NPC and either type resurrect or disable/enable. the disable then enable should fix the npc if its constantly crouched and wont do any script that should do.

Sorry Duke can I muscle in on your thread for a minute as I have a similar problem and would like some advice from Kagnesti.

@Kagnesti: You seem to know a lot about the way this game works, so you may be able to suggest a solution to an NPC problem I have in my play through.

Basically, Frodnar (the little boy in Riverwood, Hod's son) seems to be stuck. I did post a request for advice but haven't had any responses as yet.

He has been standing in the middle of the road like that for about two (in game) days. He is still animated and can talk, and I can knock him aside with my horse so he isn't frozen. But he doesn't move from that spot and his dog Stump has disappeared.

Do you have any suggestions to free him?

all i can say is try the resurrect command on him and if that does not work try to disable then before closing the console type enable. if neither does not work i do not know what is wrong with him he may be sad becuase his dog may have been killed?

i know much about the game due to my hundreds of hours on skyrim on my xbox360 and on PC. but bugs and errors are not me. those 3 commands have fixed some NPC's that were borked for me when they would not work.

I actually thought about that, although Sven seems oblivious to the fact that his mother Hilde died mysteriously a few days ago. So, there is no evidence to support the idea that NPC's have feelings.

However, Frodnar does interact a lot with Stump the dog and it did occur to me that if Stump dissappeared from the game it might derail the scripting for Frodnars behaviour. e.g. he may be standing in the middle of the street waiting for Stump to turn up and he hasn't turned up.

You can easily test that theory via the console. Type in "help Stump" first. It should tell you the NPC code for that dog. Then type in "player.placeatme xxxxxxxx" (the x's stand for the NPC code). That will spawn the dog.
ahh someone that knows more about the console then me, thank you for posting that to help him
Ok! thanks Pecoes I'll give that a go later. I'm mean't to be working at the moment.
ill try tthe disable/enable thing... oh and they jsut die like any normal character they dont go down at all
guys nothings working... i think the 28 days and a bit mod may have caused this... but i cant be sure as a effect in the mod (if youre infected and die you become a zombie) also is not working
Quick question: Who are we talking about? Are you sure the character is essential?

every essential character i nthe GAME my example is the jarl of whiterun so yeah he is essential
Well, if we were talking about just *one* character, I'd have suggested to fix it via the console. You can use the setessential command for that:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Console#setessential

But if *all* essential characters are mortal now, I would suggest to uninstall or fix the responsible mod instead.

Oh. Sorry. Yes, you said so in the original post. My bad.

Have you also cleared out any and all game assets - especially the data folder - that were left after the de-installation? Deleting the mod (and all "infected" saves) is more important than re-installing anyway.

And unsubscribe to any workshop mods you don't want to be automatically reinstalled.
