I've also been getting frequent CTDs, but sporadically. Some days I can go hours without a CTD, other days I'll get CTDs every few minutes even in game situations and locations that don't usually crash. I believe Steam has something to do with the frequent CTDs, but I have no way of testing that to see.
The most frequent CTDs I get are accompanied by a window that says it's in Microsoft C++, Error R6025, ‘pure virtual function call’. I have no idea what code is generating it, much less what the problem is.
My only mods are the 5 Unofficial Patches and Essential Lydia.
It keeps saying that one file failed to validate and will be reaquired. But I've tried to validate 3 times now and with always the same result. So... It doesn't reaquire the file?
I never get any window and code when my game CTD. It's just nothing. The game stops and there's nothing. But I could try with the patches. Where do I get them? Links, please :)
There are two pinned threads that deal with Skyrim problems and have all the information there. One is about general Skyrim problems and the other, The Unnoficial Patches - Where do I get them now? is specifically about the Unofficial Patches. I believe it has all the information you need.
The pay option grants you a few privileges and perhaps faster downloads, but paying is not necessary.
Others may have better ideas, but you may need to copy your save files to a directory a safe distance from your Skyrim files, then uninstall and the Unofficial Patches, and reinstall Skyrim. Then use Nexus Mod Manager to install the Unofficial Patches.
I decided to reinstall Skyrim with my saves intact. I'll try to work it without mods, see how it works. Then try again with the patches.
