After 5-15 hours of gameplay and following the mainquest, at some point you will unlock the two 'main questlines' added by dawnguard and dragonborn. When it happens it will all be very clear. I won't say more, because it will spoil the story and some surprises.
You can check if the DLC is activated in the 'Data Files' option of the game launcher menu. All DLC should be ticked automatically and in a logical loading order. If it is activated there, it will launch for sure.
dragonborne = level 27
no idea about hearthfire though... dawnguards random encounters - vampires - will start from helgen, though. its funny when a master vampire walks up and kills hadvar, then life drains you until you swim away.
That's not true at all.
Dawnguard and Dragonborn both start around level 10 after a specific event in the Main Quest line.
Vampires start to appear after level 8, but certainly not after you leave Helgen. Also it won't be a master vampire when you are low level and Hadvar is not killable at all.
To know if you have them right click skyrim left side of page/properties/dlc they will show there
i was having dawnguard vampire encounters as early as helgen o-o'' i do beleive the master vampire was mod induced though, i have an increased encounter mod for dawnguard.
and yeah, hadvar is unkillable, but he can have his HP reduced to zero for awhile. for intents and purposes; dead.
dawnguard requires level 10 only, no main quest stuff. im not sure about dragonborn, though. on the console my cousin said it activeated for her at level 27 (she hadnt gone to visit the greybeards yet, either).
Still alot of untrue information... except for Dawnguard DLC, which will trigger after you reach level 10.
Your mod obviously changed the behaviour of DLC encounters ... so mention that when you answer a question. Without the mod it is as I told before.
Hadvar is unkillable and his HP will never be reduced to zero. He can go in submission mode when near death, but will rise up in a few seconds again. Still, it just is not the same as dead and you don't need to 'swim away' from a vampire ...
Dragonborn does not require any level at all, they require you to visit the Greybeards once and complete the 'tutorial' of shouting. After that a scripted random encounter will happen in the next city you enter. As I told before, it's useful to read the wiki: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Dragonborn_(Quest)
The fact that one player started Dragonborn at level 27 is not relevant. Still you also say she hasn't gone to the greybeards yet, but that is not possible at all as you can read in the wiki. You need to follow the main quest line until you finish your first visit to the greybeards...
