The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Is Skyrim better than Oblivion?
If Oblivion was re-made with Skyrim's graphics, I would say it's better.

Oblivion was terribad.

Don't come down with a terminal case of nostalgia.
If they implemented Skyrim graphics, gameplay improvements and did away with that horrible discussion wheel, then it'd be a very strong contender.

Tried replaying Oblivion awhile ago, fully modded, but lost interest =/ May come back to it later XD

The problem with Oblivion is that it had all the right pieces in all the right proportions, but it just never came together right. No amount of updated graphics can fix that. Skyrim (and Morrowind) are still going to nudge it out of first place.

But that said, Oblivion is still a great game. I'm currently playing a mage in Oblivion and having a blast.
Oblivion was pretty bad.
The leveling system alone was terrible. The current system makes the entire Elder Scrolls series much more enjoyable. No more being punished for not "training" your character properly.
In Oblivion sometimes you were punished for earning levels. That alone breaks the game. And the Oblivion gates were boring and repetitive (and yet you had to do them to "craft" stuff).

Skyrim is better in so many ways.
The cities in Oblivion are MUCH better than in Skyrim.

The countryside , guilds, farms, villages and forts in Morrowind are much better than Oblivion or Skyrim.

Skyrim does a lot of things right and it's really a fantastic game, it's just too bad they got rid of all the things that Morrowind and Oblivion did right.
Skyrim. Graphics, customization, and just more fun. Oblivion just got old to me real fast. It was more empty than skyrim imo. Skyrim feels more populated and overall more fun.
Skyrim is better in everyway
Oblivion has it its moments, but it's predecessor and successor were both better games.

I agree, though I would still want someone to create an "Obscuro's Oblivion Overhaul" for it.

Now there are no longer any consequences to any of your leveling decisions, so no matter what you choose to do in the game, it's totally meaningless when it comes to leveling. Whoops.

There's a very good reason why games bring consequences against the player for playing poorly. It's so that it can actually mean something when you win.
If there was no Oblivion then most likely Morrowind & Skyrim would have never been made. Enough has been said.

Hear, hear! Oblivion has leveling system that punishes you for not carefully planning out your character's career in advance. It also punishes you for doing the sensible thing. You're a fighter so you should make heavy armor, block, and blade your major skills, right? Wrong! That will just level you too fast.

In my current playthrough as a mage, I made my main magical skills be minor skills, and made my melee skills be major. So when it comes time to level up I just head to the arena. It's not sensible, but it's what the leveling system encourages. I'm not even trying to min/max the character, I'm just trying to keep ahead of the leveling rat race.

Leveling is one the bigger immersion-busters out there, and I'm glad Skyrim kept it in the background where you don't need to spreadsheet it.
I didn't care for Oblivion, once theOblivion gates were everywhere it just felt like I was making one big never ending milk run. Having said that... I did like Oblivion's expansion... what can I say I'm a nut for anything Sheogorath, always have been, always will be.

I'd put Skyrim ahead of Oblivion and Morrowind ever so slightly ahead of Skyrim.

For me Morrowind wins out for the recent TES games not becuase it was the greatest thing ever, but because of nostalgia. Unlike some I can admit that Morrowind had its flaws (melee combat was just me spamming my daedric spear, either missing targets or knocking them down repeatedly until they died). Though Morrowind easily had the best magic and enchanting system out the 3 games I mentioned... okay, thats why Morrowind wins, magic (better spellcrafting than oblivion) and enchanting (I miss my 100% legit created in-game with no use of TES editor perma flight ring).

Oblivion is better, in my opinion, then Skyrim in every aspect except for graphics.
I find them to be about even. Even if Oblivion were to be remade with Skyrim's graphics (new graphics can't make a game, and, for me at least, old graphics can't break one either).
