Best house for rp?
So, basically, I am roleplaying a Nord Traveller (range/asassin) who returned to Skyrim to settle down and start a family only to get caught in the ongoing cnflict between the Imperials and the Stormcloaks. I am looking for a house where I could safely move into with my wife and two kids and be relatively safe. So far, I was considering Windstad Manor, but the fact that the drafting table remains there even after the house is built is kind of a setback for me. There are also some houses where I really don't want to live - Hjerim, because of the murderer that lived there before me, Honeyside, because I don't like Riften, and Proudspire Manor because it is too expensive and empty (Also Lakeview Manor because it gets attacked too often). Any advice is greately appreciated. Thanks!

Assuming you have Hearthfire, that Morthal homestead thing by the sea. It's so isolated that your kids will be freaked out by the swamps but it's out of the way of advancing soldiers.

Well, Heljarchen is a frosty cold place to live, but it has a wheat mill, so it's a fantastic place to build a stead that has a kitchen and bedroom. All of the 3 hearthfire manors keep their drafting tables - though you could just assume you use it as a workbench for various other things when you're done with it.

There's a fantastic mod out there called BreezehomeFullyUpgradeable - you can find it on the nexus, and probably the workshop as well. It allows you to make breezehome a nice place with many additional upgrades - a basement, a basement forge not unlike hearthfire ones, even a balcony and hot tub. It's entirely hearthfire compatable and will even help you sort your craftables into chests that you can craft from directly without holding onto the raw materials you need (ingots in the ingot chest are wired to work at the forge, etc.) The most important thing about the mod is that it works pretty well without making breezehome so ridiculous it's not lore-friendly. The mod makes the house feel fully functional and entirely feasible - like you just hired a redecorated and some burly workers to dig out a big basement with some nice space.

The mod is fully hearthfire compatable, which means you can have a study or a room with hearthfire beds - and if you choose to have a bedroom, so long as you've adopted before building the bacony, everything should work fine.

Edit: When I was toying around with the mod, I sometimes preferred not to build the upstairs extension and balcony because I felt like it was a little weird that they claim the water pitchers for the hot tub in the extnsion are just enchanted by farengar to teleport water in from the lake - and because the second door (the one that gives you a balcony) apparently causes pathing problems if you adopt after building it.

You've pretty much eliminated all the standard possibilities, so have a look at...

Just disable the drafting table via console if it bothers you.
