Quick question regarding showracemenu

I'm getting bored of how my character looks and I don't have the Dawnguard addon so there's no legit way to change my face. That can't stop me from wanting to.

My question is whether using the showracemenu console command will allow me to change my appearance (I don't really want to change race or gender, just the face) without resetting my character build or messing up anything in the game.

As long as you don't change your characters race then your stats wont get reset :)

Yes it will allow you to change your race, weight, sex, everything. Make a save right before you enter the command so if you don't you changes, you can reload and try again. Why people so afraid experiment for themselves? To sometimes to fail is the only way to really learn.

Yeah I guess experimenting is one option, I was just afraid that perhaps it might do something I won't immediately notice and will come to regret a lot later when it's too late to reload the save... I don't even know what sort of thing that could be, but still.

There is a mod here on Steam called The Vanity Mirror. It uses SkyUI and the Racemenue mods, but it lets you change your looks anytime you want and it is simple and easy to use. I also use a hair mod and the Vanity Mirror lets me change hair style every day if I want.
