Purchasing legendary to replace vanilla copy?
I purchased the base game quite a while ago at a crazy cheap price and never got around to buying the DLC, because I didn't want to spend that much money (I never found a good sale). I noticed that the legendary version is on sale at a good price this weekend (I could get two copies of the legendary version for the same price as just buying the DLC by itself) and wondered if I bought the Legendary version would it override my base version or would it cause problems. The checkout cart flags a prepurchase error warning me that I'll lose a copy. So my question would be is the DLC attached to this version and would be lost because I already own it or is it free floating and would attach to my already-owned copy? I'm assuming I wouldn't get multiple entries in my Library like I have with other games I own (e.g. Deus Ex Human Revolution has an entry for the dlc, the base game, and the directors cut). I would love some insight to this instead of throwing my money away...

You basically just don't get a second copy of Skyrim and it will install the DLC for the version you already own. All your game saves and everything will still work so you will be good to go. If you have enjoyed Skyrim so far you should be really happy with all the DLC adds to the game. If you have mods installed you should see if they have a version that supports the DLC so you can get the most out of them as well.
