Do I need dlcs to play the good mods?
I already own it all on xbox but I heard the mods are really good for the pc. Probably not going to get it if dlc are needed but if they run on the base game I was going to go for it. Feel free to warn me if im wrong about the mods.

It tells you that there is litterally no reason to not get the DLCS anyway.

its $6 for something I already have, thats a reason. The only reason id get the dlc is if it takes them to run the mods.

Yes, you need DLC to run some of the most famous story-mods ever, Dawnguard and Dragonborn. Both are amazing and add more content and fixes than any normal mod, maybe barring the unoffical patches.

No, I just said the Dlcs have over five times the content of any mod you will ever download, and are designed much better.

Already played them, dawnguards pretty good but dragonborn was fairly disappointing. Unless skyrim severly limits modding I doubt they have more content that mods. On the plus side dragonborn did convince me to give morrowind a try.

I think he's asking things like since the DLC allows you to ride a dragon, will he miss out on any mods that take advantage of those kind of gameplays.

right. Although it would be more likely it would be taking advantage of something like crossbows or tectures.

More and more mods are requiring the expansions as time goes on.

Check the Nexus page for whatever mods you're interested in, they should list the requirements there.

Dragonborn was awesome.
But more importantly... "Unless skyrim severly limits modding I doubt they have more content that mods."
Do you understand how big Dragonborn is? Do you know how long it took a team of developers to create that one DLC?
There is not a single mod for Skyrim that even comes close to how big Dragonborn is, except for the massive projects that are mostly just old things re-done than whole new places.

yup, did a glance at the mods and skyrim seems to make modding somewhat difficult/limited based off the mods. Or people just arent that interested in modding it. The ones Im interested in still havent released so I guess ill wait for the next discount.

Limited?
I wasn't talking about limited mechanics, which from what people have done with Skyrim, I didn't know existed.
No, I'm talking about the pure scope of Dragonborn. That DLC is massive compared to a mod.
I wasn't talking about mechanics. With FNIS, SKSE, and SkyUI anything is in reach...
The Coal Man Sep 11, 2014 @ 9:14pm
was talking about modding, not the dlc. It could also just be to new for a full conversion mod to be about though, instead of them limiting modding.

Dragonborn is 1 of the more lacking elder scrolls dlcs, the demon plane is flat out repetitive and the boss fight, well lets just say ive fought tougher draugr. Not to mention dragon riding.
