Something I've never noticed before...
Over 1000+ hours in Skyrim and never noticed this before or maybe its something changed from the Unofficial Skyrim patch i just installed, but if I kill an innocent NPC and I'm with my follower, it says 'your follower has left your service' or something and my follower starts attacking me. I can't remember that every happening before. Has this always been in the game, cos before I'm damn sure my follower would just stand there and not get involved.

Uh yeah I'm pretty sure that's modded in, 'cause followers usually help me kill guards and stuff after I go on a town-wide massacre.

Found the answer, apparently it depends on the follower, they react differently in certain situations. I usually travel with Lydia and she's fine with me killing innocent civilians and will protect me when the villages come running with swords out, but I was travelling with Uthgred from the Bannered Mare (snotty cow in the corner), apparently if you kill an innocent when she's your follower she throws a hissy fit, leaves your service and attacks you.

...even more reason for her to be my sacrifice to Beothiah.

Oh ok lol thanks for the info, I wonder if the woman from Riften (whose name slips my mind) would react the same way as Uthgred.

I got the info from the SkyrimWiki, if you type her name into the search and look at her page and it might say if she turns nasty on you. I think Thane followers like Lydia will all be fine with attacking innocents (she protects me with her life apparently), its just the odd ones you pick up in inns or quests that might turn funny and attack you...Uthgred being one of them.

Moral followers will leave your service. Highly moral followers will go "Holy frakking frak! My moss is wigging out! Got to stop him!"

Uthgerd doesn't attack me.

Mjoll might attack since her labels herself as "The Protector of Riften". So she thinks she is the protector of inoccents, but I have never put it to the test.
