skyrim mods so small?

i live in Greenland, a place where one gigabyte of internet costs about 9 dollars, so when i discovered all those mods with like, 0.566 MB, 0.780MB, that seemingly makes the graphics much better, i were puzzeled (or whatever). Does it like, load the textures over time when i'm in game, causing it to load gigs of internet, or does it seirously only need .5MB for those?

The size listed on the workshop is the total size of the mod, for forever :O


Also, beware some mods on the Nexus (if you use it) , which can get up to a handful of gigabytes.

Lucky for you that the size limit for steam mods is 100 mb :P

Stuff that adds new textures will be bigger. It all depends. Something that retextures everything is going to be HUGE, but something that only retextures one sword will be much smaller.

For example, one of my mods has a retextured set of armor, that is 30MB in size. Another armor set that uses existing textures is only 30K. Big difference.

OP: You'd be surprised how low res the vanilla textures are, and how little it takes to improve them... :)

IMHO 2048 res (or higher) is for screen archers, and people with 2GB+ video memory. 1024 is plenty for general gameplay with going "Ewwwww!" every 5 minutes. :)

I have a 1GB 560ti card and I have no problems with the 2048 textures. I use an old secret of fooling my system into thinking it has two GB. I am old and use to make my OLd 8086 processor think it was 80286. Some of those tricks still work with todays processors and vid cards.
