most start their game from steam as far as i can tell, i always use the disk to start mine but if i dl a game i always go to the game folder then select the exe, also if your clicking the exe and it does nothing then right click on your toolbar, bring up task manager and make sure it isnt running ( programs do this dumb crap sometimes )
LOL, i never even think of that anymore because i always restart after loading large programs
When I can get my Gaming comp back (I'm using our Xbox 360 currently for gameplay and this laptop for modding lol), I should get into that habit.
And for the first person who commented, the square around my avatar on steam becomes green and immideately returnes to blue after i press play,so thats the main sign the game just wont launch
well i always buy low end style comps then rip whats not needed out of them and do boosts to the system to allow programs, that shouldnt run on the comps, to run smoothly so a restart after large installs was always a good option for me, but now days comps have so much ram and space because of duel hardrives just being put in now that it shouldnt be a problem in the future, but if a comp is older than 2 years its always a good strat
had my last comp for 8 years, i usually replace comps every 3 years 4 on the high end but with 4 years i do a new install at 3 of the OS
i do a lot of things that they say " no one should ever do " like i havent had antivirus protection since the 90s :P and the few viruses ive got i was able to clean out with ccleaner and some regedits
edit: and as he said he just dl it so he has no idea as to wtf you just said lol
There should be a crash log somewhere in the Skyrim folder under (typically) Bethesda under Program Files... I'm guessing though, however this is how most games report crashes so it's worth a try.
It will probably be a .txt file and it will have a number type thing (if it exists). Put in that error number into your preferred search engine search bar and space and add "Skyrim" to the end and see if you get anything. That's how I troubleshoot crashes for other games.
Also, could you be kind enough to go to your Control Panel -> System & Security -> System and tell me what processor and how much ram you have. and if you know your graphics card, that would be nice to know too.
LOL fergette wins
edit: lol accidently said gergette
I hope you enjoy Skyrim with every ounce of your being... lol. Nah but seriously it's great (just telling ya in case you haven't played it before!!) c:
well i really have no idea because if i cant get a disk for a program then i dont get it, i just have to have a hard copy because it always tells any party that i do in fact own it, if steam sells out to another company and crap gets lost in transfer then a lot of DL people are gonna be screwed while i wont be due to the fact i have all the programming on my disk which they cant dispute
