Skyrim's scenery looks beautiful - cannot say the same for the people in the game however.
Nice, I would love to have that graphic....
What I think about Skyrim's graphics is that far too many people are totally preoccupied with pretty, shiny things and their constant complaints somehow catch the ears of developers who desperately try to please them (not possible) and force us to upgrade our hardware every time they put out a new title.

Having said that, I absolutely love the scenic vistas in this game. There have been times when I come out of the trees on a mountainside to find myself standing upon a rock ledge and have the breath knocked out of me.

I just want to play games. When I want natural beauty, I can go outside.

A game like Mount & Blade: Warband is a graphical embarassment compared to Skyrim, yet it is far superior in terms of game mechanics, combat, strategy, etc. I'm glad we get to enjoy both but I fear that the industry has focussed far too much on pretty graphics to the detriment of making better games.

Yes gameplay is more important than graphics, but with all else equal I'd rather spend 300 hours staring at something pretty than not, also there are expectations for AAA titles to compete visually.

Vanilla Skyrim has a lot better graphics than ESO. Those who plays the beta say so.
Looks like vanilla Skyrim too me? A few screenshots I took earlier, modded it a bit:

To me graphics are extremely important. I don’t obsess about details, but for me the fact that I can visit virtual worlds is a big reason of why I play games.

Ideally that world should look (within the context of the game) realistic and impressive.

I care more about overall design than something like shadow quality or reflection though.

I thoroughly enjoyed Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood because walking around Renaissance Rome filled with NPC’s was just awesome. Without the great graphics I wouldn’t have enjoyed that game as much as I did.

And to me the joy of playing Skyrim as a little vacation during work hours, is that the world looks so fantastic.

Yea, Skyrim has nice graphics. I wish I had a better PC for it since I run it on a laptop atm. I'm really eager to get a better desktop PC (mine is a bit old) and crank up all the settings and mod it out with a bunch of nice graphical mods!

Though personally I prefer pixelated/sprited games because as an artist I just love how much effort they cram into all the pixels (which is really restricted compared to 3D or drawing). Games like Bahamut Lagoon or Legend of Mana look really good for their age :)
