Lydia is back from the dead?

I took Lydia on a quest three guys were beating us so I changed from daggers to my sword and fire by the time I managed to pull them out and kill one of the three guys Lydia had died, she was lying on the floor and I could search her. I went got a new companion and went on some quests and went to Breezehome to gather some stuff and went up stairs and Lydia was just standing there. She was dead and I saw it. What going on? Is she immortal?

Same thing happened to me, but it was just her body. Wasn't alive. Sure my kids loved having a dead body in their house.

For me she is alive and I can make her follow me again.

It might not be a bug, by what I found on google she only really dies if the player gives the final strike that kills her.

She’s ‘protected’. You can make her immortal with the ‘setessential’ Console command, or with ‘Essential Lydia’ and some other mods. (I believe AFT works, but I haven’t checked it.)

Appernelty anyone who dies can comeback to life somehow - it just takes a long long longtime

for example i beat the companions quests

and somehow that skyjor guy came back and hes in the place talking and stuff called me a newbie when im the leader

and other characters too from the companions somehow came back too


also note that i think that companions that are married become essitnal i think

I highly recommend AFT to everyone, even if you don't plan on using multiple followers it has some very nice features. It also gives you options for what features you do and don't want to use.
