Nope, you can't remove them. Uninstalling/reinstalling will only glitch your game and make it unplayable, so don't do it.

On the other hand, you still have TWO other manor locations you can build. So make a new house and put on the wings you want. Heljarchen Hall (north of Whiterun) or Windstad Manor (northeast of Morthal).

Winstad isn't in a place too snowy, is it? Many say it's in the most ideal location

Winstad is close to Solitude, but only if you don't mind swimming. Overall I think Heljarchen is the most convenient, as it's more central and just a quick ride from Whiterun.

It *is* the most convinient - its just (IMO) the landscape around is ugly as hell. There's a reason most people prefer to build at Lakeview.

As a matter of fact - I don't know what the devs were thinking when the selected the other two locations.

Are you sure about that? I've searched up on this and most say it should be fine but of course, the house can be rebuilt from ground up. I guess it goes something like, unticking Hearthfire.esm from data files, loading your save and saving it again to ensure the DLC is removed completely, then reactivating the DLC.

Yeah I'd rather care more about the environment than the convenience. So between Winstad and Lakeview Manor, which really is the better one?

Lakeview. The others are either a windswept, snow-covered wasteland or a swamp.

Plus, Lakeview is near the ruins of Hlegen. I play with the Helgen Reborn mod (rebuld Helgen to a thriving town), Real-Time Settler, Pocket Empire Builder, and Tundra defense. Between them I can build up a small city around my home.

Oh, and Sailable Ships of Skyrim offers the possiblity of getting and using a boat on the lake.

Don't knock Heljarchen Hall! It has some of the best scenery in the game!

The first time I built a house with the DLC, I made the alchemy north wing and didn't like it, finding it quite superfluous. I unchecked the DLC, saved my game again making sure my character wasn't in the same area as the house (i.e. have them somewhere in Whiterun or someothing) and then rechecked the mod and built the house again. Never saw any issues other than the plethora that happens all the time from vanilla bugs.

Yes, if you uninstall/reinstall the right way, there won't be any issue (other than minor savegame bloat). But 99% of the time people don't do it right and screw up their game. I know, I've been there. That's why I recommended not doing it.

I've built all 3 and I like Heljarchen hall the best. The view off the deck at Lakeview over looks a shrine to human sacrifice that I'd prefer wasn't there. Also Heljarchen hall seems to atract let bandits and other malfactors...

My last game I had Winstad Manor and I actually quite liked it, except for the lack of a chest near the outdoor smithing equipment, having to crawl back and forth to the original chest by the drafting table was tedious, and handing over every single thing to a follower wasn't much better. Possibly I was just missing something and there is a way to add a chest, but there didn't seem to be - I know you can have a forge and all the other equipment in the cellar, but that doesn't seem terribly healthy for the lungs, plus it's nice smithing in the horrible misty outdoors...

My Windstad Manor is totally borked. You can "see" it & you can literally walk through the walls, but you can't "enter" it.

Its also the coldest and always seems to be snowing whenever I go there, even the kids complain they'll freeze to death if they stay outside to long!

You can mod out the altar if you know what you're doing, trouble is other mods will add extra NPC's that like to spawn there too...

Windstad seems to be the worst for bandits for me they always seem to spawn there maybe I'm just unlucky/queued to show up there. The fish hatchery is a nice addition though I feel it could have been better added at Lakeview (luckily theres mods for that)
