First Dragon
Erm... Gone through the game plenty of times, now I can't seem to get past the first Dragon, the game bugs and I can't absorb his soul. Anyone know anything? P.S. I have a few mods installed.

Try reloading your last save. That usually helps me when i can't absorb a dragon soul.

Hmm, any other ideas that i have are to just continue on doing what you were doing before. I'm pretty sure the game registered that you killed the dragon so report back to balgruff and eventually i think you'll get a dragon soul. Other then that i don't know what to say.
Yea thats not a bad idea all though my current mission is to investigate the Dragon.
I will try,If not I guess I will go through all the side missions lol

Investigate the dragon; that means just take everything that it has, which i mean just search the thing. Hope this problem fixes itself in due time, other then that, have fun! The story isn't all of it!
Yea its probably a mod clash somewhere.
Is this your first time playing with Dragonborn? I know that DLC causes that to happen, which is fixed by the Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.
I played quite a bit around launch, and installed a bunch of mods through Steam Workshop. That last part was a mistake: I had a bunch of workshop mods installed, and when I wanted to play through the game again about a year after launch, I ran into a very similar issue to the one you describe: I couldn't absorb dragon souls. It seems that mods tend to get abandoned on the workshop, which means that you end up stuck running mods that are fundamentally incompatible with the version of Skyrim you're running.

My recommendation: Use Nexus Mod Manager and Skyrim Nexus for as many of the mods you run as possible: The community is fairly active, and it makes mod maintence/debugging much less of a chore.

Since you're not that far in, you might as well just start a new game at that point. You may also want to check out some of the alternate start mods; it might save you from having to replay the overly long and heavily scripted opening of the story.

I use Nexus anyway. But there are a couple of old (outdated) mods left over from the Workshop so I will start over more than likely.
