[Help] Purple Textures
I've been having an issue where items and objects start getting a purple missing texture (once yellow) after so long of playing. I've looked it up sp many time and tried every thing suggested, from increasing the memory usage, using the optimizer textures, but none of it works, in fact optimizer textures caused some lag. Again, this happens after about an hour or two of playing. Does anyone know of anything I could do to fix this?

Add Static Mesh Improvement Mod from Nexus this will solve it.
Thanks, I'll try it
Hi I had this as well solve it for me.
Unfortunately I can't see if it worked. Skyrim began stuttering just before I installed it and won't stop :(

Either way, purple textures = missing textures, so not sure why it would be okay to begin with then degrade.
Try verifying the cache for the game
Try verifying your game cache
- Exit Steam.
- Go to Steam folder and remove folder named appcache

- Go to Documents > My Games > Skyrim.
- Cut and paste files Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini out of there. You can safely - and should - delete them, after Skyrim has later created new ones for you.
(Note that your Windows settings may have hidden file extensions.)

- Close your computer. Don't just restart it, but let it shut down.
- Start your computer and then start Steam. Steam will now load a few seconds, while creating a new appcache folder for you.

- From Steam client Library view, right click the game.
- Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache...

- Start Skyrim trough default launcher, even if you are using SKSE otherwise (recommended.) This will create new Skyrim.ini for you.
- Run the game once. This will create new SkyrimPrefs.ini for you.

* 1 file will always fail to validate. It is related to how Steam is detecting your graphic card configurations and does not have any negative effects to your game.
Nothing's working. After ask about the texture the game began degrading. First stuttering then crash upon looking at my follower. Then I install SMIM, which worked until I tried entering Battle-Born's House, so I uninstalled, did what I need to in Battle-Born's then reinstalled it. Now it crashes upon loading a save. So I tried not using it, then I crashed randomly upon sommoning my follower. Tried sommoning her again got everything off her just in time to watch dissapear. Thanks to that weird turn of events I was forced to sell a ton of my stuff so I could run, and after I headed to the Drunken Huntsmen where there were broken textures. Upon exting and loading the auto-save in the Drunken Huntsmen I crash. I think Skyrim hates me, but just to be sure I'm asking for more help.

The Gordian's knot solution when Skyrim and possibly h/w and OS is knotted. Ground zero does not usually involve a re-install of either Skyrim or Steam but a methodical approach to the issue.

It is my opinion that the Op has confused the issues through attempting to troubleshoot and a return to ground zero (not a re-install) is neccessary.
My GPU got to 75°C and memory got to 2,615MB while VRAM 1,374MB, and this is on starting a new game with Live Another Life, starting in Whiterun, plus other mods.

What are system specs. Is this an HP or Dell laptop with a 2Gb GPU?

I'm acually using a custom build PC with a GeForce GT 620 with 4095MB of "Total Available Graphics Memory". And I've already done Ilja's SKSE thing, but did not know the load order one, I'll try that and cross my fingers.

P.S. I've the "defaultHeapInitialAllocMB" to 1024

OK, after running loot and making sure the load order was good I tried playing, and now it appears to have that loading Whiterun and two cell, the third cell to be loaded will cause a CTD.

A GT 620 is what I used to own and I got this issue occasionally. I didn't get it nearly as often as you did though. It stopped happening when I stopped overclocking it.
Amazing all I did is add mod, play and save (same spot), then exit game and restarted all was fixed.
