Are the expansions worth it at the sale prices?
I haven't played in months but enjoyed my time with the game immensly. Mods truly bring out the most of Skyrim's capabilities.

I have been looking for an excuse to get back into it and I do not have the expansions. I see they are on sale due to the summer sale. Are they worth it at the sale prices or should I just stick to modding the game for new content?

Dawnguard is currently $13.39 (33% off)
Hearthfire is $3.34 (33% off)
Dragonborn is $13.39 (33% off)

Thanks for any help.

Honestly? Standard procedure for Steam Sales; if the game isn't on Daily Deal/Flash/Last Day, don't buy it.

I would just download this awesome mod I just got called Wyrmstooth or something like that it adds in a nice sized islands to explore. But get the DLC when it is 50% or higher off, the dlc is worth it, Dragonborn is the best one. The price should go down in a few days I think.

agree with delta, however, watch the items that you want by adding them to your wishlist. steam should notify you if they drop in price. i will say though that dawnguard and dragonborn are worth getting, but i don't think hearthfire really is. at current price hf is fine, but sales are finicky and i've seen items by $3 one day and the next go up to $9+. So just watch and be careful. And if steam does a bundle of dlc's, then those are the best buys. hope this helps.

Wait for the Daily Deals; they will be cheaper
UltraMonk Jun 20, 2014 @ 11:50pm
Yeah no need to pay more than you have too. I've been waiting for Dawnguard and Dragonborn to come out really cheap, have the rest already.
getting legendary is a nice purchase 2/3 of the expansions are worth it

I have Heartfire, and honestly I don't think it adds enough to bother with. The other DLC's are quite nice though, and I would say that they are worth buying.

Legendary is a great deal on sale

It is, but if we already have the game and buy legendary edition, will we get a separate game or will we have also the DLCs on the "vanilla" edition ?

hey friend, the expansions worth it? yes. is it enought to go back? dont know.
i was like you, trying to go back, and than i found this:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19281

its a mod that changes EVERYTHING, it makes the game AWESOME. its like ANOTHER GAME.
if you really want a reason to go back, download this mod, it suports dawnguard by default and dragonborn with a downloadble patch.
you can also download falskaar mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37994/?
(with another patch it can be used with requiem too)

theres also the Wyrmstooth that ppl already said. but its not compatible with requiem so i dont use it.

I think they worth it, i bought the legendary edition and it gave me over 100 hours. Hearthfire is not very impresive on its own but the whole pack rly expand the game
Wolfi Jun 21, 2014 @ 2:19am
Totally wurf it!
Exept Hearthfire maybe :P
Jonx0r Jun 21, 2014 @ 3:33am
@Lenant: There's a requiem patch for Wyrmstooth too.

Don't forget you can get this stuff from other places and download to steam too, if you find a great deal somewhere.
SpeedFreak1972 Jun 21, 2014 @ 4:15am
Well have all and it's worth it ... maybe hearthfire as such not so much however if you want to mod in the future you will discover that a lot of mods are dependent on the dlc (hearthfire, dawnguard, dragonborn)
