Azura problem

I just got Azura's (white) Star. Then, I killed two dragons and absorbed their souls, but the star still says "empty." I was carrying a filled black soul gem and 8 grand empty gems and various smaller gems at the time. I expected there to be 2 dragon souls in Azura's star, or at the very least in the empty grand gems I was carrying. Anyone know what is going on?

Err you can't absorb dragonsouls that way ... you're the dragonborn .... You should know by now that dragonsouls only can be used to unlock shouts.

I knew that nothing but a dragon soul would unlock a shout. I didn't realize though that dragon souls don't fill gems. Thanks.

That is; you are dragonborn, only you can absorb dragon souls!

Use black soul gems for humans, grand soul gems for mammoths.

It seems to me that I filled some grand soul gems long before I could take down a mommoth. I guess I just assumed it was from killing dragons.

Grand soul gems can also be filled by more powerful Draugr and Falmer, it was probably those.

Also, Azura's Star only holds one soul at a time (so you can trap a soul, enchant something and reuse it to trap another soul, or you can trap a soul, recharge your weapon, and trap another soul.)
