Help for strict parents...?
Hi, I am a really big fan of Skyrim, which I used to play in my friends house, but now I have decided that I want it for myself. And my parents see that it is PEGI 18 and wont let me buy it. Any ideas for convincing them or just how to prove them it is not an 18. Many thanks, and remember: your help could create a new Dragonborn (thats me of course). Thanks!

the rating is just a suggestion which should not be taken seriousely, the game doesnt have any sex references that someone below 20 will get, the blood in the game can be switched off as well and the curse words are very few.

This is a dark game that has quest that can be uncomfortable. Listen to your parents

Depends, how old are you? If you're 15 or older this game is totally ok. If you're 12-14, it depends on how mature you are I think.

The only PEGI 18 (or M-rated here in the states) content in the unmodded game as far as I can see is a lot of blood and gore and a few sexual references here and there (e.g. Helga's Bunkhouse and the in-game book The Lusty Argonian Maid is filled with innuendos). There is no swearing besides 1 instance where someone says "damn." Also, there is alchohol and fictional drugs known as Skooma and Moon Sugar present, but you don't have to consume them.

If you can handle that, I'd suggest telling your parents that you can and perhaps that will change their mind.

Honeslty this game isnt really 18+. Seeing as I've played it through 4 times now, there isnt any sexually explicit things to worry about, and seeing as thats probaly the biggest thing your parents are worried about it shoudlnt be a problem. It has so little vocabulary of cuss words you would hear more after 20 seconds of COD. The blood/gore in the game is practically nothing, and can be turned off.
Thanks for this guys, it helped me a lot, but if I remember well, you can undress ladies if you kill them and take everything from them. Or at least the captain of the first mission.
That the blood can be turned off REALLY helped. Thanks :)

You will only see their bras and underpants, they won't be nude.

yes the foul language is usually left for the forums. but because you are trying to covince your parents that this game isn't evil, I will leave it out.
The rating is probably the least of their concerns. It may be that you have shown a lack of reponsibility and maturity. Show some of these traits and they will show you the respect when youve earned it. How are your grades? Do you stick to your curfew. Help around the home?
If you answer no, then its ntime to grow up. abide your parents they know best.
Ok , are they gone? Make sure.
Screw them. dont ever ask permission or tell them anything you do. do what ever it takes to get Skyrim. Buy it yourself, Steal it, steal the money. Its all good. learn your priorities now before it is too late.
You may not want them to see the last part.

Keyword: CAN undress ladies. CAN. Not HAVE TO. I suppose you could RP a perv if you wanted to, though...

Respect your parents wishes and go play something else.
Be thankful they are at least engaged with what they want for you. If you don't like it, then it sounds like you'll be an adult soon, so just wait till then.

Why would I be, I'm God.

LMAO, Gods can't be banned, much less perma banned.

And who are you exactly, some new stalker?

I'm the guy who pointed out the fact that you and Two Bears spent 11 pages derailing bra1n1ac's thread. Also, how am I a stalker? I was in this thread before you posted.

seriously though, find some vids on youtube and show them. it is now where near as violent as other games . the rating is ridiculous, good luck

Smile has good advice. You didn't say how old you are, so I advise you to obey your parents for now. You will be able to make your own mistakes in life soon enough. They are only trying to raise a good citizen or else they wouldn't care what you do.

the game is not centered around violence, it is there to add a better story to the game. there is no sexual refrence in the game and the only swear word that i have seen is "damn" and that is not said often. when you take off armor you are not naked, your undergarments will show but that is not bad, if they are trying to protect you from that they should never let you go to the pool.
to convince them to let you buy it you should show multiple reviews on the internet (or even your freinds parents if need be) and maybe a video or 2 about the game. another factor is that it is not a multiplayer game so there is no chance of you getting bullied (if that is what they are worried about) or hearing swear words.
