but there is really no mods out there that specifically helps followers have you also tried out downloading the unofficial patches
i see it looks like this is actually a spead out issue then i would google around and find a reiable site that can solve your issue you might just have to go back to an eariler save OR and i think you won't like it but delete your game save data, exit out the game verify cache and go back in
First, know that there is a glitch that asking a follower to pick up an item through the "I need your help" dialog can cause items to be marked as stolen--as seen on the UESP[www.uesp.net] wiki, under the Bugs section. A weapon can mistakenly get labeled as "stolen". A follower will gladly equip a "stolen" item but will refuse to attack with it (so it appears). I removed his weapons, laundered them, and gave them back to him so they were "clean". Afterwards, he'd attack enemies like normal.
This also seems to be the reason why Vilkas would be able to attack after being dismissed and asked to follow again; he got his bow back, which isn't stolen and could be used to attack.
I hope this solves some people's problems playing Skyrim in 2017. :)
thank u
it worked for me!! thanks!!
Posting this in case someone else has the same issue and can't find a fix as I didn't find this as a listed solution anywhere but I just had a suspicion there might have been something wonky with their aggression level, so it was basically a random guess that turned out to be true.
