Laptop? Play Skyrim corded. Make sure all vents are clear.
nope... i have desktop computer.
And, do you have any mods in your game?

Window color change with crash isn't included with any mod conflict that comes to my mind, but Skyrim can act a bit strange sometimes.

Does it show window skyrim icon at bottom of page?
This might have nothing to do with it, but sometimes conflicted "dirty" scripts (the code that sktrim runs over) cause the game to CTD (Crash-To-Desktop). Try this tool:
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52363/?

On the page there're instructions how to use it. Also, just in case... Don't over-write saves, because in my CTD's it was one of the culprits.

And before you try anything (even after you "cleaned" the save file) turn off\delete all the mods (even if you're using one currently) and try to play vanilla only. And just in case, go something like 2-5 saves BEFORE the one you're in currently.

If it still crashes, I can guranttee it has nothing to do script.
Could be a memory issue in-game so:http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50305/?
The current version of SKSE also addresses the same issue.
I have also seen this before, rarely, with other s/w. Three possible solutions which have worked.. your experience may be different. Anyway:

1. Power down system completely and that means after your normal shutdown, locate the Power Supply off/on switch and turn it off. Leave it off for a few minutes. Re-boot and G.L.

2. Use manufacturer's software to do a clean uninstall of graphics drivers and associated control panel. Clean install and config of fresh drivers Re-boot and G.L
.
3. Same as above except crack the case, remove and reseat graphics card. While you are there clean interior (fans filters, CPU toques) and make sure everything is seated and tight. Re-boot and G.L.

Try also Optimizer Textures, I've known it glitch out graphically before it crashes which I believe is a vram issue if you're running short.
