If that isn't the case, maybe try and verify your game by going to the properties of skyrim (Right click it in your library and select local files, "Properties" then verify integrity.." let Steam scan the game and download if it needs to. You can also try enboost or SKSE 1.7.1 and use the memory hack found here:http://wiki.step-project.com/Skyrim_Script_Extender#Recommendations
There is more stuff on step that might help you, so have a look around there, there are lots of guides about making Skyrim more stable. Good Luck!
- Skyrim alone works just fine
- Skyrim with texture packs works just fine
- Dawnguard, Hearthfires, Dragonborn - if any is marked in DATA the game crashes before the menu
