Never start skyrims opening scene with Frostfall enabled..ESPECIALLY with the "Opening scene Overhaul" mod ... You won't make it.. :l

Nothing to do with performance. You will just die from cold, before you reach the keep - likely soon after you made the character.

Now that's just plain absurd. Die from cold before you get to the keep? (Especially if you're a Nord).
Dangerous cold like that should be remenicient of why the Nords migrated from Atmora.
Skyrim isn't in an ice age.
Also, if that were the case .. practically all of the NPCs would be frozen to death before you arrive as a corpsickle.

Yep. If Frostfall is active, it starts working during the cart ride. Character is only using prisoner prisoner clothes, so they are likely to die from cold before reaching the block.

That is indeed a valuable lesson. Most mods should NOT be active during Helgen sequence. It is unstable and long stretch anyway. I would rather recommend picking some alternative location from ASLAL, or activate majority of mods after the initial visit in Riverwood (though just after exiting Helgen cave can also be fine for most mod lists.)

Well, i died just after ulfric was called to the line, and i awoke in the bannerd mare in whiterun, still bound and unable to move. :/

The one time I tried it, I didn't bother even finishing the cart ride. The horse thief died before ralof said his first line LOL

It is one cold way you go to Helgen, you will die as Ilja says. I love Frostfall :)

Yeah, the screen was still black when you hear "Uhhguhhh" X_X. I tfc'ed to try and find the body so i could resurrect the guy but he just kept dying or getting stuck under the cart and then dying or staying alive but making the cart go ballistic. sigh :/
