Stormcloaks or Imperials
I am trying to decide wether to join the Stormcloaks or the Imperials. I left Helgen with Ralof. Yet during the SC quest where you storm Whiterun. I feel guilty when Balgruuf says he is dissapointed in me. What should I do?

I was kind of hoping for genuine answers.
There are a few threads about that in this forum.

Besides, my character is Breton and Nords are sometimes a bit too racist imho.
Also, Stormcloaks pretend to give Skyrim just to the Nords, not being a Nord I don't feel like helping them getting rid of me :P

(seriously, some quotes are racist)
Skyrim belongs to the Nords!!! Too bad if you are any other race.

See?
That's what I meant, I'm Breton, and I'm going to join Imperial forces, they respect me more than you Nords!

(actually, at the moment I'm neutral since I want to close a crapload of other quests first :P)
Stormcloack or bust!
(not sure if i worded that right)

Before this turns into a flame war, i suggest diverting the topic to how awesome M'aiq the Liar is. He's so awesome Talos looks lame.
He's so great. He can move into our universe and read people's minds at will.
Stormcloaks, pois Skyrim é dos Nórdicos, e portanto, o Império (manipulado pelos Thalmors) não deve meter o nariz no negócio dos outros.
I always go with Imperials if I'm running a 'logical' character, even a Nord. The logic's simple: You learn that the Thalmor have pretty much fanned the flames of the 'Stormcloak Rebellion', and they want Skyrim to be in turmolt. The Altmer aren't just trying to eradicate Talos worship, they're trying to take control of the Towers of Nirn, the things that keep Mundus together.

Adamantine Tower, the oldest and most well-known, is in High Rock, controlled by the Empire. Snow-Throat, in Skyrim, is in the Empire's territory unless the Stormcloaks screw everything up. White-Gold, one of the most vital, is the capitol of the Empire. They might have signed a white peace, but the Thalmor DON'T have control of any of those three towers.

If the Stormcloaks succeed, then on top of having a power-hungry, mentally-unstable High King, but a weakened Empire. Dominion invades again, takes Cyrodiil and maybe Adamantine. Ulfric wouldn't go to the Empire's aid out of his childish grudge, so he just sits back and waits for the entire Dominion to come walking to his doorstep. Not a plesant picture...
the imperials thinks we are all lawless beast, im proof of their ignorence :3
You will always feel guilty, no matter which side you choose.

If you are with Empire, you kill thousands good warriors ready do sacrifice their lives for freedom, which surely would fight in future war with Aldmeri Dominion. You agree on life under influence of elves in exchange of uncertain peace,

If you side with the Stormcloaks you betray Balgruuf and expose Skyrim, only one of the provinces weakened by Civil War, on war with combined forces of the Empire and Altmer.

It's hard to betray Balgruuf because he's truly neutral. He hesitates to attack the Stormcloaks because he partially agrees with them (for example, about Talos though he never says it out loud), but sees the points of the Empire as well.

But Stormcloaks are rash and are driven by their emotions, rather than cold sense. While they fight for freedom, they also significantly weaken the chances to best the Thalmor by sowing discord to the Empire.

Balgruuf stays neutral, because he dosn't want war in Whiterun. He appreciates Dragonborn much more than other jarls (you warn him about dragon save whole Whiterun) and seems to be good ruler who think above all about his people. And if you join to the Stormcloaks, you bring army to his city and replace him on throne by bigoted old man who think only about greatness of his kin. He has right to feel betrayed, even if he is neutral.

Stormcloaks are indeed rash and driven by emotions, but they believe that The Empire lost the will to fight Thalmor. Had convinced the other provinces and with help of Dragon born, they would have chance to become real threat to Altmer. However if they didn't get any help, they would lost to Aldmeri Dominion or reinforced Emipre and presecutions of Thalmor would be much worse.
Imperials are careful and choose to wait on right time to attack Thalmor. But nobody knows when that time come and how many concessions will be made.

Any side isn't good choice, but Civil War brings benefits only to the Altmer and must be stoped.
I wish there was a way where you could just whipe out the thalmar then both sides whould be happy
because i cant decide which side to join
