This game absolutely seems like a good testbed/wip of sorts, and the screenshots and community posts look very different from what I am playing, I am very curious why this is.

this is probably the most confusing game I ever seen. I tried pressing everysingle button on my controler yet I don't move, I managed to shoot with each arm, but that's of no use when you are stuck in a single place being a turret with only a cone of 45º vision...

...looks like Virtual ON, except instead of fighting other robots you can't see anything.
