Lots of people want more painting tools, so here's a place to give us your ideas. Details, please!

What I got to get the ball rolling:

1. Text tool. Add text to paintings.
2. Straight edge tool.
3. Maybe shape 'stamps'. Not super cool but I'll put it out there.
4. Charcoal for doing outlines. Not sure how it would work exactly. Maybe one size?
5. Color picker. Is this a tool?

Text tool would be nice, even if only to add a signature and date to our paintings. But I can also think of some vreative ways to use text/fonts in a drawing or painting.

I like the idea of a gravity drip tool that I saw mentioned in another thread.

Straight edge too would be wonderful. Shaky old arthritic hands here... straight lines are an issue, and for anyone who has twitchy hands or mild trmors, a tool would make the game more accessible.

A tool that allows "spatter painting" effects. Like using an old toothbrush to spatter paint on (if you understand the effect I am talking about), or creating "blobs" by tapping paint from a brush onto the canvas.

Shape stamps could be nice for some, not sure how much I would use them. But things like stars, hearts, triangles, rectangles (bricks?), ovals... basic shapes, that would work the same way as the round or square brush, to create a stamped shape, repetitively.

A sponge? Like a sea sponge, to tap on texture?
Yeah I thought of sea sponge too. Could be cool.

I very much like the paint brush spatter idea. I use that in real life often.

Come on, I can talk to Ryan all day, I want to hear from all our players!
1. Tape to section off painting, for drawing straight lines and keeping sections clean.

2. Wire brush that you can drag lines of paint with to create effects

3. Stipplers of different sizes

4. Fan brush

5. Putty knife to drag and scrape paint

6. A Palette to mix colors on, perhaps you would be able to purchase tubes of your favorite colors to squeeze out on there

Thanks for making this game, I'm having a blast.

Fantastic ideas!!! They all sound do-able (I think), but the mixing is out as far as I know.
No worries, anything added to this game will make a great game even better. I've been "mixing" on the canvas with the smudge tool :p
hahah;D wait, its so much on my mind right now, i will try post some ideas tomorrow...,
but i gues any new feature will be fine, you did a nice job on this game/program
some more colours, and things mentioned before in your pm, same on me
mixing colours would be super nice
no stamps ;D

I personally have no desire to make pre-defined "shape stamps" like stars or triangles.
I also think that text in our paintings falls outside the intended design.
I lean toward emulating real-life painting techniques. ( I know both of these things are technically quite possible IRL, but they feel too "digital" to me )
My personal approach of the game is to use it like a sketchbook so I actually only use the fine pencil to sketch or paint pixel by pixel I do fully zoomed in.

For this reason I do not demand any extra tools but if you can make it you can zoom in more I would appriciate it.
Thats exactly what I do too. I don't own a pad and I can't draw freehanded. I do my work by pixels. Like I already said in my review, a stronger zoom would be nice indeed. Still I understand why you wouldn't want to add it to keep it like a simulator. Maybe a finer brush? I think its still a little too pixaleted.
First of all thank you for the great app. You should be proud of yourself for integrating the game mechanics into an app that stimulates creativity.
I have high hopes for this project's future.

There are some things that I would like to be addressed like:
  • the ability to reassign the shortcuts.
  • the Wacom's stylus buttons don't work, so there is no easy way of panning the canvas, zooming and adding colors to favorites. (Also the wacom tablet doesn't work on my other computer- this happens only with this app)
  • the pallet should stay on top of the painting, not go behind it while zoomed and worst when painting on a round canvas you can see the pallets, but they are still covered by something invisible.
  • I would like to be able to have more than one painting work in progres at the same time. If I decide to spend more time on one piece, I'd like to be able to keep making some fast ones.
  • I would like to be able to see other artists' work in progress. To be able to "visit their place" and why not- even a gallery of their completed work.
  • I'd also like to see implemented a weekly challanges.
Thank you, and again, congratulations for a great game and keep up the good work!

Lines should be flowing, natural and maybe even a little messy. Text and symbols/stamps would just make most art less natural and as Bob said already: ''Digital.''

I think I'm satisfied with tools really but if I had to pick something I'd agree with Teletolumby's
''1. Tape to section off painting, for drawing straight lines and keeping sections clean.''
