Rushed game development. In other words, Sonic 06.

Sonic 06 is the only, and worst mistake Sega has made, I don't even want to think about that game anymore.

I agree with andy and Shadow I loved the idea, graphics and story, but it was a barely playable to non playable game due to Sega rushing it.

You thought this game was bad? Did you go from SA2 Dreamcast to Sonic Heroes? I nearly cried at how pitiful it was! This game holds to the classic Sonic as well as the Dreamcast Sonic. This thing was what I've been waiting for for ten years!

I do agree that sonic 06 was a horrible game but if that game never happened then sega might not have realized that sonic games were getting alot worse so games like colours and generations might not have happened because sonic didn't last

Worst mistake that SEGA made (in my opinion):
"Breaking" game mechanics that weren't broken in the past.

Here are a few examples:
  • Sonic Adventure 2: Why is Knuckle's/Rouge's radar only picking up the signals from one piece of the Master Emerald at a time? (Adventure 1: The radar would blink when you come close to any emerald near you)
  • Sonic Heroes: Why are the controls so slippery and somewhat unresponsive? (e.g. Special/Emerald stages)
  • Sonic '06: A rushed project: Sonic games were never rushed in the past. Shadow's homing attack; The inability to spin dash while running (something that the Adventure series had and worked perfectly); lip syncing was in tune with the Japanese voice acting (Sonic Heroes had good lip syncing); The "Agent Shadow, E-123 Omega has contacted Mephiles" line; BIG bland HUD world; How would you describe Blaze the Cat? A princess in another dimension or a purple cat from the future?
  • Sonic Genesis: A bad port -- can't get the original game on the GBA correctly, Sonic Advance was better than this.
  • Sonic Generations: Classic Sonic not being able to stay into a ball while rolling down a hill (He gets back on his feet as soon as he reaches flat ground).

There are obviously more things they broke, but these are the ones that I remember off the top of my head.

Sonic '06 was SEGA's worst mistake, I do agree. But I never did really like the story book series games either. Sonic Unleashed was okay, but most Sonic games had bugs, glitches, or just plain messed up bugs or bad coding, ruining the game, or SEGA tried their hardest and failed. SEGA tries to go for making good games like Sonic Generations, one of the best being released. I also agree with 2132robson.
