195 hour gameplay save disappears for seemingly no reason.

I have 195 hours invested into one save, and after about a month of not playing, I enter the game one morning, only to find that my save is gone, and it requests a new game. I had a lot of stuff, and I really don't want to have to spend another 195 hours getting all my stuff & progress back. I have had corruption issues in the past with other steam games, but a quick verify of the cache fixed all up and all was dandy; however, this did not work this time. I am not even sure if corruption is the issue, even though its semi possible. Any advice as to how I may be able to recover my save, or at least most of it?

In your Steam folder, find steamapps\common\Recettear. Here you have save.dat and _save.dat. Last one is the backup. Rename it to save.dat and see if it works.
If you started a new game it won't work.
