Freeze issues

On the normal boot up I have no problem getting on the title screen. I can usually get as far as the title screen and then the steam community pop up does its thing and everything freezes. The pop-up itself flickers uncontrollably and i can't click any other option on the menus. The game just freezes. What gives?

exospyhen, you poor dude. I bought your game on sale, and it's crashy as hell on 64-bit Xubuntu. But, I also make games... so, I feel your pain. Looking forward to the patch.

@netzapper: I am actually rewriting all of the graphics/audio/system code like I did with the 2 original games. The results were perfect ;)

I just bought this game and I get to the title/menu screen, that's it. The audio plays fine but visually the game has crashed. I can't move the arrow cursor, nor choose menu items. In the top left corner there is some kind of status message, telling me the game's running at 1 fps! Err, so, what's going on? Everything else on my windows 8 PC is running fine, including other Steam games. Really can't wait to play this so it's mega frustrating!
