Quick Troubleshooting / FAQ
Heya! Going to compile a list of common issues, hopefully helping you guys without the need to open a thread.

Q: The interface seems too big, too small, or some elements are missing

A: The UI Scaling setting is off. Go to the options menu and try to change it until you find one suited to your monitor and resolution. If that fails, try to press Ctrl+D. If that also fails, press - on the numpad a few times.

Q: My interface disappeared!

A: You hit the "Screenshot Mode" hotkey. Enable/disable it with F11.

Q: I get a black screen or wrong resolution and can't change it in-game!

A: Force open the launcher (add "-show-screen-selector" in the "set launch" option) and choose manually the resolution and monitor. Recommend 1080p or less in windowed mode.

Q: Game crashes when I have enabled the "Exported Scenarios" mod!

A: You have a custom scenario that is either very old or corrupted. Please go to
- "\Steam\steamapps\common\RiseOfIndustry\Mods"
and
- "\Steam\steamapps\common\RiseOfIndustry\Rise of Industry_Data\StreamingAssets"
Then, delete everything there. Steam will update all the mods properly.

Q: The resolution changes to something too small immediately after the intro!

A: Your video codecs might've messed up the intro. Restart the game with it disabled: http://prntscr.com/sbb0po
- RightClick the game in your Library
- "Properties"
- "Set Launch Options..."
- Enter "-nointro" (without quotations but with the dash)
- Start the game

Q: Game is in German or the resolution is still completely messed up!

A: Press Control + D
If that doesn't work, delete the registry keys and reinstall the game to clean out everything (don't worry, your saves are left untouched):

On Windows, go to the Registry Editor (Windows, Run, "regedit") and delete the folder under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dapper Penguin Studios\Rise Of Industry

On Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Dapper Penguin Studios/Rise of Industry

Q: Game Crashes when loading the Tutorial or Career

A: You have an old CPU. Need to load a different branch:
- RightClick the game in your Library
- Properties
- Betas tab
- Choose "NoBurst" in the dropdown
- Close button
- Let it patch

Q: Game crashes on Linux
A: nVidia drivers possibly are filing. Roll back to version 390. Versions 430 and 440 have been confirmed not working

Q: Keyboard doesn't seem to work
A: Seems like a DirectX or driver update scrambled the input of the game. I propose two solutions:

1. (I know it's a horrible solution): unplug all controllers before running the game. This issue affects many Unity games, and will work elsewhere
2. In the main menu, hit Ctrl+D. This will reset and rebind everything. Will have to reenter all the settings (graphics, audio, gameplay, etc)

Q: How do I...?

A: Have you played the tutorial AND read the help panel? Is it missing? Please add it here and I'll make sure that it will be included in the next version.

Hello hello! Erm… I accidently set the resolution to 320x200. The window only shows the central part of the game, so I cannot access the options in the game anymore. While starting the game with „-show-screen-selector“ I can set the resolution, but after the starting screen it goes back to the tiny 320x200. I already tried to reinstalling it already, the new game will start in 320x200 too. Any suggestions?
Ok, that was weird. Added solution to the FAQ

On linux, the correct path to the configuration is `~/.config/unity3d/Dapper Penguin Studios/Rise of Industry` (observe the spaces on the studio + game name), at least on Arch + Awesomewm.

Hm, weird, you're above min specs. Install a program called "VLC", maybe it helps? To be clear: the issue is just with the intro, but the game runs fine? If not, can you try the publicBeta branch? Please continue this topic on a new thread :)

Heya! Going to compile a list of common issues, hopefully helping you guys without the need to open a thread.

Q: Can't run the game, crash after intro, says something about locked file content, or keeps "running" after exiting

A: Some antivirus like to block recently published games (especially Avast, Comodo, Bullguard and Norton). Please add the game to their whitelist or uninstall them; there are better AVs out there.

Q: The interface seems too big, too small, or some elements are missing

A: The UI Scaling setting is off. Go to the options menu and try to change it until you find one suited to your monitor and resolution.

Q: Tutorial is broken! I can't place any roads!

A: Contrary to other games, in this one you don't place the individual road tiles, but the connections between them. This will come especially handy when solving traffic issues, where you can make complex intersections and mazes. Example: http://prntscr.com/icfbk0

Q: Cannot see the construction bar at the bottom of the screen

A: Try changing the scaling or resolution, your screen is not big enough.

Q: How do I change the controls?!

A: Force open the launcher (add "-show-screen-selector" in the "set launch" option) and click on the input tab: http://prntscr.com/i79a2c.

Q: I completely messed up the game settings and need to reset them!

A: Delete the registry keys and reinstall the game to clean out everything (don't worry, your saves are left untouched):

On Windows, go to the Registry Editor (Windows, Run, "regedit") and delete the folder under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dapper Penguin Studios\Rise Of Industry

On Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Dapper Penguin Studios/Rise of Industry

Q: Missing Letters or they are replaced with a "box"

A: You need to change the region format (not language!) to UK or US

Control Panel \ Clock, Language and Region \ Change Date, Time, or Number

Change this setting to English UK/US: http://prntscr.com/jfbzsx
(don't worry, it won't mess up anything in the PC, it's just an internal Windows thing)

Q: No Audio on an ASUS mobo/laptop

A: Close down or restart ASUS Audio Sonic Studio. It's a bit weird of an app.

A: Have you played the tutorial AND read the help panel? Is it missing? Please add it here and I'll make sure that it will be included in the next version.

I was in a game that crashed to desktop but it changed the scaling of the desktop to 300% and prompted Windows to asked me to accept autocorrection for blurriness. I declined that and fixed the scaling then tried to reload the game. It came up as fullscreen at my desktop resolution, 3840x2160. (I had previously changed it to windowed 2440x1440.) The game is completely unplayable at that point, 1 FPS and the resolution menu selection option is unresponsive but I can still change between windowed, borderless, or fullscreen. I then tried the -show-screen-selector run option but it won't let me change to a different resolution. I then did the regedit and reinstall option and it still comes back with the same problem. Anytime I try to restart the game I sit through a full 2-3 minute wait on a black screen when my previous load times was maybe 10 seconds. I can't figure out what to do next.

Never seen or heard of this behaviour. You have something very wrong in your PC affecting apps. Strongly suggest a proper antivirus pass and even a format, after updating drivers

Virus check turned out fine.
Updated video driver, Nvida had a new version 5 days ago.

After that, game runs again. Although it does still start fullscreen and desktop resolution even though I told it to start windowed and 2440x1440. It still lets me chenge resolution in game just fine.
