Master List of Civilization : Beyond Earth Fixes
This post is to correlate fixes for playing Civ:BE

Error Code 53

This is a local install problem. Your anti-virus or firewall is blocking steam from installing the game. You must disable your firewall/anti-virus.

MP crashes

Have the host disable the Exoplanets DLC

Update your Operating System

You should always have a fully patched OS. Especially given that DirectX on Windows 8 can only be deployed via Windows Update. Ensure your OS is patched first. Reboot.

Update your Video Drivers

Many games rely on the latest video drivers to work. Refer to your manufacturer's website

www.nvidia.com
www.amd.com
www.intel.com

Re-run VCredist

Go to your steam installation folder

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2012

Run vcredist_x86.exe
Run vcredist_x64.exe

REBOOT (This is not optional you must reboot)

Re-install DirectX

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010

Run DXSETUP.exe

REBOOT (This is not optional you must reboot)

AMD/Nvidia Laptop users should force their integrated cards

For Nvidia

* Right click your desktop
* NVIDIA Control Panel ->
* Manage 3D Settings ->
* Program Settings.
* Select Civilization BE executable as the program then add it. It is in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth\
* Then 2. Select High Performance NVIDIA Processor.

Reverify your Game cache

This is known to fix some audio issues, and issues with leaders with no sound, or looking 'weird'. Its worth trying for other issues as well.

1. Try verifying the integrity of the game cache:
1a) Go open up your Steam client program and go to the "LIBRARY" section
1b) Right-click Payday in the list of games to the left - a drop-down menu will appear
1c) Click the menu option "Properties" at the very bottom of the drop-down menu - a dialog box will appear
1d) Click the "LOCAL FILES" tab in the upper part of the dialog box
1e) Click the third button that reads "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE..."

AMD Mantle is not working

Ensure you have the latest stable drivers from AMD.

New beta drivers were just released. If your existing stable drivers dont work, try this

Issues with high refresh rate monitors

Currently there seems to be an issue with high refresh rate monitors. Users cannot select proper resolutions.

The only fix is to run the game in windowed mode for now.

2K is aware of the situation and a patch is coming

DO NOT DOWNLOAD FILES FROM UNTRUSTED WEBSITES

No matter how tempting it might be someone would have a 'fix', do not do this. There is a 100% chance its a virus to take advantage of your desperation. While frustrating, please refrain from using unsourced 'patches'.

Mantle on Multi Monitors

Apparently not supported at this time.

Possible conflict with Razr keybords that hve touchpads

Not 100% cofirmed but something you might want to look into if you're having crash/instabilty issues and have Razr hardware.

How do I disable DoF
Edit the file

My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth\GraphicsSettings.ini

Enable DoF = 0
Enable UIBlur = 0

Thanks to Dragoon for tracking this one down

Fullscreen borderless windowed mode not working

My own experience

1) Try setting Display #1 to be yoru primary display as well

2) Set Water quality to LOW. This seems to make a world of difference

3) Set "MOuse Bind" to "Never"

Well, other than the c&p mistake, good post, all in all, unless of course this was meant for the Payday 2 beta.

Probably should fix this part.

Windowed mode lets me pick up to 1920x1200, despite the desktop being 2560x1440. Still better than playing sub-1080p though. :)

Totally :)

Just reinstalled this game, installed drivers of nvidia again, will try one more run to see if the resolution can be choosen in windowed mode, if not, I will let this game rest a month and play other games :)

im getting 0xc000007c errors :( any suggestions?
Veetoo Oct 24, 2014 @ 12:11am
isnt that a direct x error? have you installed the latest drivers?

The 144Hz monitor bug is killing me right now. I was so excited to play tonight, but after 2 hours of trying windowed mode I had to stop. It sounds silly, but it is stupidly distracting from the game playing it in windowed mode. I really hope they have a day one patch to fix this, although I'm sure it will take a week...

The problem is not just with high refresh rate monitors. Mine is only 60hz, but the resolution is high (3440x1440). Could see 1920x1080 and 1920x1200, just nothing higher.

Running an ASUS gaming Laptop, Nvidia 670M. When I go into the 3d settings, and add BE, there is no option for "High performance Nvidia processor"
ancalimon Oct 24, 2014 @ 3:25am
The resolution problem is not related with monitor being a high refresh rate one.

I have a Samsung T22C350 HDTV Monitor and no 1080p @60hz either. It's related with the monitor being a hdtv monitor. I tried using a dvi to vga adapter and connected that to my HDTV monitor's vga input. 1080p is working this way.
