Aura: Fate of the Ages

Aura: Fate of the Ages

Opinions?
It looks interesting but aside from a handful of pictures there is little about Aura: Fate of the Ages...
Anyone who want to share some opinions?

I remember playing this a long time around the time it came out and thinking it was fun. I plan to see if memory is correct.

if you like Myst type of games then buy it

It certainly looks very Myst-like :)
Curious to see if the plot is similar too

Do NOT get it. This is trash compared to gamesl ike MYST. The puzzles make no sense. Most deal with clicking on everything with every inventory item and trying to understand things that have no logical connection. It is a game made by people trying to capitalize on MYST's original success. Also, it has terrible repetitive music and inappropriate sound effects (random sounds of glass breaking while alone doing nothing indoors).
Totally agree with this post. bad myst-like.. and there are a lot of bugs (spirit world).
Compared to myst, this is 5/20.

I'm not big on Myst, but by itself this game has enough merits to warrant a play. The atmosphere alone is very pleasant.
The puzzle makes sense. The puzzles are pretty easy as long as you got all the clues to solve it IMO. Some clues aren't easy to find or understand tho.

It's an adventure puzzle game and if you like these type of games than you might want to try it out.

I was liking it. I am an adventure/puzzle gamer and thought this had a decent story, but... I lost all my game play! I had to re-install Windows and now all my saved progress is gone. It hard to start all over again with hours of play already invested.

Does anyone know if there is a Steam backup for such an emergency?
Pchan 28. Sep. 2013 um 1:29
I believe the only kind of backup Steam offers is through the Steam Cloud, which I do not think an old game like Aura supports. :goblin:
Another important question is, where does the game save in the first place? I couldn't find that out by searching.
Pchan 28. Sep. 2013 um 4:42
It is also quite difficult to find... :goblin:
In the Steam top folder there is a folder called userdata with a folder where the saves are. However each game is in it's own folder and has a cryptic numeric name which makes it really difficult to figure out which game belongs to which folder
Well that's unnecessarily cryptic... At least if EVERY steam game did that, you could back up that folder. But I found out FEAR still saves my games in documents and settings/public documents, even though it's a steam game.
Pchan 28. Sep. 2013 um 7:32
That is because FEAR is not using the Steamcloud. In Windows, such games often put saves in the "documents and settings" folder (but not all games do that...).

Oh, I thought you said Aura was stored in that steam folder, but you meant Cloud games. I see a "Saved" folder in the main directory, I suppose that's what Aura uses.
