I like this game but unfortunately it's engine is made on DirectX
It will be great if the Capcom change its engine to an graphics industry standard (OpenGL). Everyone will win with this!

Humorous post, suggesting that DirectX hasn't been the de facto industry standard for the past couple decades, with something like 95%+ of the PC gaming market and Xbox/Xbox 360 releases using it.

Aside from that, yes OpenGL at it's current level (and beyond) would be better overall.

OpenGL isn't an industry standard, though. Is it? DirectX is pretty much used across most games.

+1 OpenGL. Not only here, but on more games. DirectX doesn't do anything that OpenGL can't do, and the "features" it markets aren't actually exclusive to DirectX

OpenGL is a lot faster than DirectX that is the gamingindustry standard today. But it is slowly about to change one point being that a lot of games for smartphones uses it. It is really stranges that something that actually performes worse have become the number one standard.

directX, opengl, Mantle... too much
directx is the standard so we must deal with it

Game is made on Unreal Engine 3. UE3 has OpenGL renderer and there are Linux games made on UE3. This is ony Capcom good will to prepare a native port. So Capcom it's a great game but without Linux support there is no money. Game was also on PS3 which has OpenGL renderer.

LPEC uses MT Framework which is developed by Capcom. LP3 uses UE3.

Does it really matter? You do realize when this game was released right, when most games used Unreal Engine 3?.. You really think Capcom would support OpenGL render just to appease a niche market when the game doesn't even sell well anymore?

Games lose support after so many years just like most things in life have an expiration date. You really can't expect the devs to update the games engine when they would lose out on both time AND money. If anything capcom would need to market and sell all 3 games as a remaster to break even.

Also, if you really wanted to play the game it shouldn't be too hard to muster up 250$ to build a Windows PC. Or are you one of those fanboys that can't be bothered to use multiple platforms? Not trying to sound harsh, but you have to look at both ends of the spectrum IE buisness side of things & consumer retention.

I love this series just as much as anyone else if not more. So if capcom is listening get on that money train as this is one series that deserves reboot. Focus on co-op, wide open destructable environments, and giant boss battles with multiple objectives. They tried to westernize LP3 with a focus on story/human emotion and it really didn't feel like the Lost Planet that we know and love. Keep the focus on environments/levels and less on characters. /Rant.
