Game crashes

I've seen this game since I was a kid and always want to play it. However, I downloaded it recently, but it crashes a lot. I have tried running it in compatibility mode for win 98 and XP service pack 3 which has helped, but does any one else have any other suggestions

I have also the same type of problems and i dont know why we should try to run the games in safe mode or other windows versions. i have some of the games not providet from valve and they runs great. My pc are good enought to run these games aswell

I finally started getting it working. I have Quicktime 7 and run in compatability mode for Win98/ ME, and everything is great. Video and red and blue pages, etc.. Only problem is now it crashes when I save/ restore. It kicks me out of the game completly. what do I do now??

I have Windows 8. At first I had no videos, so I did "Troubleshoot for compatibility." It set it to Windows XP Service Pack 3. The videos can play now, but the game keeps freezing, where no controls will work and the audio keeps skipping on the same spot. It usually happens when using quicktime elements. For instance pushing buttons in the generator room on the main Island always crashes it. Tried installing Quicktime 6.5.2 per another thread's suggestion but that didn't seem to help.

I've had the same problem. When I try to solve the gear puzzle to get the combo 221, it crashes on me.
