The Longest Journey

The Longest Journey

TLJ with steam link
When I play this on my pc it runs and looks fine. It is in widescreen (scaled by monitor, I expect, though I have not checked the settings recently) and the cutscenes render just fine. The game starts fine with steam link but is in the original (4:3) dimensions (makes sene if monitor is doing the scaling) and the cutscenes do not play on the tv. When I go back to the other room, though, the cutscenes are playing on the monitor just fine. I'd really like to play this via steam link as I find story based games perfect for that sort of thing. Any ideas on why the cutscenes show on the monitor but not the tv?

try the settings in my guide on running on windows 10 it should be right under this thread if you read this soon. if that does not work try running in widowed mode. as that might help.
the last thing i would recomend but might have the best chances of working is
ajusting your moniters display reslution
what i think might be happening is a combination of issuses computer is changing the diplay reslution to match that of your monitor while steam is capturing what your computer is currently genrating.
i would drop the output reslution down to test this still might not work.
nothing like steam link existed when this game was made wich makes geting it to work with steam link a bit harder.
eather way there will be away to get it working its just a matter of how much time it takes us to figure out how.

wish i had a steam link myself just so i could test it out and help you faster as there are 100 things to try.

Thanks for the reply! What is odd is that the game actually plays really well (at least so far) on my pc without any real tweaks. The movies play fine on the pc but black screen on the tv, and the rest of the game looks fine on the tv. I have verified that bink videos for other games play fine on the tv via link (although some of those games have other issues). I may try tweaking some other things when I have another chance but I did open a ticket with support and they are taking a look at the issue. Thanks for mentioning the link to the guide - I'll give it a look over when I try the next set of tweaks.

Update, just in case anyone else has this problem and is looking for solutions. When I use dgVoodoo the cutscenes will play on tv via steam link just fine. Using that program you can also run the game in 1280 x 960 resolution without artifacts.
