Thanks to Nyxo, restoring at least the sprites for right now is possible.

I almost started immediately when he sent me the link to the tool because, you know, couldn't stand looking at the yellow pee sprites and his tools are amazing and easy to use but decided to wait until he made his thread to officially announce it to the thread/world. lol I'll keep this thread updated and present the first "patch" when it is down.

Announcements:

Tilesets, at least world map tilesets and some city sets, can be edited! I have successfully done it! I will start on them as soon as I have finished all of the sprites! :)

What is this & Why do I want it?:

So, what is this? Simple! It is a 1:1 restoration attempt of the mobile version of Chrono Trigger to look identical to the SNES game, or DS version. Since this version of the game has the additional content of the DS game, my team and I will be recreating the SNES graphics into the DS graphics as well, so that you get the DS content into the SNES graphics!

What this means basically is that you can play mobile with DS content IN SNES graphics! :)

Instructions:

FIRST STEP: backup your resources.bin!

Download the amazing tool by Nyxo here[rivernyxx.com] and extract it someplace nice and tidy. Open it up and click File > Open Archive and locate the resources.bin of your Chrono Trigger install directory. For example, if you install on your C: drive, it would be:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Chrono Trigger

Select it and Open.

Next click download the patch below and save it someplace. For convience, I suggest placing it with the CT_Explorer Tool. Next, in the Tool click Patch and Open Patch. Locate my Patch.

You will get a pop up. This is important. It will say:

Do you want to clear all currently configured replacements first?

Say NO.

This will start the patching progress. Once it is done, Save the Archive and then close the Explorer Tool and launch the game.

There may be more to come as we go and figure the dumps and file types and coding out. Maybe even modders and coders will come in her and try to help us out if SE leaves us hanging. Wouldn't that be epic?

It has been tremendous value already. Thank you so damn much man. This...this seriously just sped up our process to an inexplainable amount. Your dump has every single damn piece we were missing from our dumps and spriters-resource (including the Zeal piece which is a nightmare headache lol), which said sites only had "popular" dumps without the pal options etc. THANK YOU SO DAMN MUCH! You deserve a medal as well man!

Zeikar: another member of the team, and one of the oldest on the team. He jumped in quick and tried to instantly help me figure tons of stuff out as I stumbled about. He's now working as part of the CTRP sub-team for the UI patch! He's got his own team, which I'll get the head count for and add here later.

Speedwagon: for his defilters of the mobile graphics from day one. They helped me tremendously even before my team grew! Thank you!

I don't care at this point. I know they won't fix it now that I can see the original assets in the files and they decided not to use them. They absolutely decided these ugly things were better for some reason only God or Satan knows and I love this game to death, so I want to fix it so I can play it and enjoy it, and so others can enjoy it. Even if it means fixing SE's mistakes.

Sharing the file via Dropbox may be easier for you? In any case, I've already messed around with converting the sprite sheets, so if you'd like any assistance, I'd be happy to try and help with that, as I know there's a lot to be done there.

Sure, will do! I've got the first patch ready, now I just need to figure out how to make a patch without spreading the .bin about (piracy). Hopefully I can get that done quickly for you guys.

Thank you for the suggestion on the site. I've never done this before, so I went with what I knew. haha I had to remove my current patch though, as I was told it is piracy and if I want SE to not remove it and for it to be able to be kept here on the forums and put up on Nexus, it can't be the .bin file going around. So I have to make a better patching method for it.

As for the offer of help, thank you! I don't seem to have any high quality versions of their face graphics, or their over world sprites. I'd like to see if I can find them and overwrite them with the mobile versions. If you wouldn't mind, could you look into those things for me? Sometimes the small quality of life changes are the best ones. xD

Yes, please! That would help tremendously! The current ones are really small and very pixely, and not in an appealing way. I'd like to see if we can improve the quality, even by a little.
