game won't work on windows 8.1

Hey there, I've come to realize upon purchasing this game it is quite a ♥♥♥♥♥ to get it to run on windows 8. I've looked at many supposed solutions to making this game work well. I've tried them all, including trying to find stereo mix in the sound control panel (which doesn't exist even with disabled devices on my OS), and messing with sound issue plug ins in general such as pluging in my speakers and/or headphones to my front headpone jack. I'm just looking to see if theres a fix to this without messing with the sound issues. I would like to make this discussion into a place for people with 8.1 to look to for a fix to play this great game. Please feel free to post possible fixes for me and others as possible solutions in order to play this game on windows 8 or 8.1. Thanks!!!

Have you tried plugging something into your microphone jack?

well the problem for me is my front microphone jack doesn't work and so i can't necessarily do that unless i literally push the male port as hard as i can into the jack and hold it continuously. that's why im looking for a non sound fix :/

actually you know what? I was finally able to figure out how to run it, as of now at least. It seems I needed to have both my headphone jack and my microphone jack plugged in with something. I have my headphones plugged in to the the headphone jack, and I've plugged in my broken microphone headset jack into the actual microphone jack, and with both plugged in, the tutorial seems to work fine. With only one or the other it will not work for me. I have to have both in. I'll report back here if something doesnt work right. If anyone else has problems on windows 8 or 8.1, they should definitely report here. Until this fix stops working, thanks for the idea!

Hello, its been a long time since you posted but now i have bought the game and it crashes too. I have windows 8.1, and i do have a headset without a microphone plugged into the headphone jack on the front of my computer. Every time i click on training, or click launch in instant action, the game crashes. It basically crashes every time i do anything. I am not sure what the problem is.

same but i took out speakers and used an inbuild speaker, no microphone, and still crashes when launching instant action or campn so on.

have you updated windows and your sound drivers? the stereo mix might appear then

I have 8.1 and it works for me if I plug my headset into the mic jack.

I have 8.1 and I dont have a sound card. Does that mean I cannot run the game? Help!!
