Recommendation: Use ScummVM for advanced options
Better sound emulation, different graphics options, volume sliders, subtitle speed, better save game dialogue window - this will allow you to tune your experience!

http://scummvm.org/

Also works for all old LucasArts adventures.

I´m now playing with original Amiga sound emulation and smoother rendering and 16:9, game looks gorgeous.

I agree ScummVM is a great way to play this. Especially if u dont like the obnoxious smoothing and scaling option preset that the steam version has.

Anyone know where savegames are located so I can move them or set ScummVM to use them? They don't appear to be in the game folder and the userfiles folder of Steam does not seem to have an entry for '6010' which Steam states as the STEAMID for the game. so unless the game's engine utilises some sort of cross-dimensional functionality to store the save files on another physical plane then they have to be somewhere...

I just checked. Savegames are stored in this folder:
C:\Users\\<YOUR COMPUTER NAME>\AppData\Roaming\ScummVM\Saved Games

That's the destination directory, I needed the source so I could copy them over to that one but ScummVM uses a different save method anyway so I have to start over regardless (Yaa-boo-sucks!)

If anyone is interested anyway I found the the Steam save folder:
C:\Users\\<YOUR PC'S MONIKER>\AppData\Roaming\LucasArts\Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis

Never woulda thought of looking there for a DOS game, but it makes sense seeing as Steam uses a win32 wrapper thing to run the game (with it's crap smoothing filter!)
thx major difference. I cant get the amigaemulator to work:( Have you got some recommended settings for the best experience?
amiga emulator?..its supposed to be either a dos emulator, like dosbox, or scummVMm specificly for scumm based games...
tho these games might have been available for amiga back then..the files u get with this steam version of indy are for DOS
ok just wondering since op says he´s playing with original Amiga sound emulation
Ah i see, i guess ScummVM allows to use Amiga sound emulation as an option. I cant't check since i am at the office. But anyhow if the game is supposed to be ran on an Amiga Emulator the files of the Steam version will most probably not work. You would have to get hold of an Amiga Version of Indy 4.

Upscaling and smoothing is nice to have in ScummVM....however i prefer the original pixelated look :D

I'm using a Mac. No idea how to use ScummVM. Can someone please explain how to run this and where to get games, as well as how to run them through Scumm? Thank you so much!

If you use ScummVM, you won't be able to beat Arnold and Fritz for the extra IQ points.
Arnold and repectively Fritz are certain Nazi special enemies that u come across during the 3 available playthroughs.
Obviously when using ScummVm for the game the score that u get for the guys isnt properly registered. (I can't confirm that sincew i didnt pay attention to the score when playing the game. Seriously it doesnt matter at all. Scoring in adventure games seems a relic from the Sierra days)

Also this can help maybe - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RO5mF7g2_rM - 'Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis GOG.com Tweak Guide'

Kamil Dziwota:
'Can you do all tweaks from this tutorial on Steam version of the game if you install ScummVM by yourself? [Sorry for my English.]'

philscomputerlab:
'The Steam version is a bit different, but try it out. If it loads in ScummVM, then yes.'
