Conch Shell Trouble

It's my second time playing through the game. when I got to the cave I added the rum to the shell and stump and the gun powder, yet I can't find a vessel for fresh water and no mater how many times I talk to Clara there is no option to ask her for her blood. Should I restart? Or did I just miss something?

You use the conch in the caves to get to the ship. The empty jar is in the captain's cabin on the ship.
