What exactly happens when the USSR or US invades you? Just curious because it's never happens to me.

Game over.
Yeah this happend to me once.. . First you get a message that they spot ships in your sea (now there is still some time for you to fix the relationship). I didn't check if they were actually visible. But after a while you get a message that they invaded you and then it's game over. You see no video or whatever. :)

Aww, I was hoping they would actually invade you. Like, your army would fight US or USSR troops. :/
The ships certainly are visible, or at least they were in Tropico 3. Now that I think about it, I never had that problem in 4.
You really have to not be paying attention to get invaded. You would almost have to make it a goal. If you for some odd reason find yourself in hot water, build a Nuclear program and they won't invade. It's expensive upkeep though.

I haven't seen a US or USSR gunboat since Tropico 2. I did get a message in one of the early campaigns that I was being circled by USSR, but I couldn't locate their ship, and I soon got a message it was no longer circling as soon as my builders caught up with the housing. Is there a cutscene for invasion instead of the gunboat circling in Tropico 4? Or has anyone managed to find the gunboats if they send them?
I saw a video the other day. At least for the USSR the ships will circle around the island. If anyone wants, I can link the video and timestamp where it appears at.
They should fight it out. Just like it happens with the rebels

I've been nearly invaded by U.S.S.R. twice. You see the message, then 3 ships in your waters, the 1st time I used the Praise the U.S.S.R. edict and they got really close before turning back, the other time I did an alliance with the U.S. and they went right away with the message that they have gone away on another mission. I would like to see a fight, personally, if the invasion actually got carried out.
Well, reality is that even though Tropico is the greatest super power on earth, and El Presidente is the greatest ruler. It would not be possible to survive an invasion from one of these so called super powered countries.

If things get bad and you don't want to be invaded, then drop a nuclear program building down. As long as your balance is positive you won't be invaded. This will give you time to convince those so called super powers that your really a nice and helpful Presidente. Making an alliance with the U.S or U.S.S.R will also keep the other from invading.

What if, when the super-powers attacked, it's in waves. That way it's easier to tick them off/ They will attack with a weak land force then progress to serious attack force. That way, depending on the military, El presidente may hold off the 1st and 2nd wave of attack. During which diplomatic options will appear in order to settle the conflict.

How did you get US and Soviet gunboats in a Tropico set in the 1600s?
