Would like to play this with a controller

Ok, i'm a long time console gamer who just recently got a gaming-capable PC. I'm still lousy at pc controls though, at least with certain games.

I love Amnesia however and would like to try it with my Xbox controller, but I have no idea how to get it to work (i'm guessing I won't be able to just plug 'n play). I've seen stuff about xpadder and other programs, but no clue how to use them or get all this stuff running.

Could anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial, or tell me what i'd need to do (if that's not too much to ask).

Also when it comes to PC games, does each game need to be configured with a controller individually? Or once I get the controller working on my PC will most games play okay with it?

Just get used to playing with mouse and keyboard....and once you do, you will kick a$$ in fps games!!

xpadder works great as long as a game has no preset controller configuration. If the game has any controls for controller they will conflict with xpadder. So yea xpadder is good for games that are mouse and keyboard only if u want to use a controller. seriously thou this game is not hard to use with mouse and key and you might want to start getting more comfortable using mouse and key as a new pc gamer.

Only the new controller has controller support that im aware of. When this game was made the devs didnt know how to add controller support I think is what happened.

I bought Joystix for Diablo3 because my hand started to hurt after hours of gaming. It has a list of games already configured, but I just made a profile for Amnesia and it works with the Xbox controller for pc flawlessly. Also used this for Diablo2, Dark Souls, and Path of Exile.

They call the profiles stiks, it's easy to set up, I think it's $15 bucks.
