game lag

Hi, wondered if anyone can help, I started playing amnesia last night and it was working fine to being with. The longer I played, the slower it got. Graphics are now jumpy and the game is slow to respond. I'm using a laptop, but my specs seem ok for the game. I looked to see if my graphics drivers needed updated but they don't. Anyone got any ideas? Cheers

Could be your problem, just a shot in the dark as you have onboard graphics, only suggestion is turning down your settings or buying a better card.

I'm guessing it is just the laptop, was a bit confused with the game running fine to begin with. I turned all settings to low to see if that made a difference but no joy. Never mind,, thanks for the help!

Well I started the game again, as last time it ran perfectly to begin with but as the game progressed the lag started and kept getting worse until it was no longer playable. Shame, i was enjoying it!

Your laptop could be overheating from gaming. Laptops are horrible for games.

im confused because my specs are horrible compared to yours ._. 1.6 ghz processor and yet i can still run this game and many other games such as borderlands and bioshock smoothly (on Highest Quality) o.O

My best advice would be to buy(or build) a gaming desktop. Most games run quite crappily on integrated graphics. Besides, Amnesia looks awful on its lowest settings, the horror feels much more real with high-res textures, shadows, etc.

My laptop does have a tendency to heat up. I have never had a prob before but I confess I have looked at upgrading, its all money though! Thanks for the comments :)

Turn off and set to medium for the SSAO samples. even with a GTX 660, they ruin my game.

There's your problem, you would need a bit more dedicated video memory in order to run the game properly. I had a laptop with around the same specs as the OP about 5 years ago and it was finding it hard to run even World of Warcraft. DirectX 9 games would hardly work at all.

but my laptop has a ATI RADEON X1200 VIDEO CARD thats what it says at the startup but is that a good card or should i upgrade for my amnesia not to lag?
