im srry to say u have to uninstall steam COMPLETLEY and re- install it
& (YES THIS MEANS EVERY GAME ON STEAM WILL BE DELETED)

it sucks but i feel yours and other peoples pain, pick a game upon re-installation and
download it

i had this problem on far cry 2 and 3 me like a idiot set everything to "ultra" to see how it would run and i screwed my self
(I HAD A BLACK BOX TRYING TO LOAD UP THE GAME AND IT WOULDNT LOAD)
(DIRECT X ERROR)
(GAME INCOMPATIBALE TO OS)
(ECT)

well i had to back up my hard drive to restart my os to factory settings (wiped clean) make sure u have an external hard drive

i think personaly your computer will run much faster baised on performance
i tryed to fix this problem my self but after a few hours i was able to fix it,

YOU MUST WIPE UR COMPUTER TO FACTORY SETTINGS

its prob your graphics settings if u fiddled around with it on your mac / windows os or just used boot camp to adjust your graphics settings on windows,

or ur computer just sucks and lacks the graphics card or ram to support the game meaning you will get errors like this Cannot install Direct X and such ect...

( try running to your local shop and buy a new graphics card (if it can be replaced on ur macbook or laptop) and upgrading ur ram to its full spec , ( if ur on a tower that will let u swap out both of them )

then u should Upgrade If you can !


.. to set ur game play try updating ur drivers and os systems ..updating might help fix the prob

but if not u MUST reset ur settings for ur graphics on ur os then tell me if that works,

some graphics cars like my intel HD 4000 built in my mac ( cannot be replaced ) cant handle to much Shade I set everything on Low, texture high detail high, works for me graphics look great! :)

oh and i found out if u go to your games library and turn off your in-game steam community it will boost up ur FPS any where from 10 to 20 FPS (tested my self) Depending On what game you are running even though i have a fast computer hope this helps
