Game refuses to start
I click "Play" and the screen goes black and then it immediately says amnesia.exe has stopped working or something along those lines....

Try following the Troubleshooting guide found here:
http://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/thread-3754.html

Also, have you verified the game cache?

Do you get a black screen immediately after launching up the game or when you click New game? Can you hear any music/sounds playing?

Try verifying the game cache again.

What are your specs, especially the graphics card? Such an issue could occur with integrated Intel cards. Try installing the latest graphics drivers.

I click start new game and then I hear some stuff about him saying his name is Daniel and then I hear what sounds like him passing out. Then I hear running water and I can't see anything besides the marker thingy in the middle but I CAN still hear things.

I don't know anything besides the fact that I have an Intel i3 Core

Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager. Then click on the "+" sign next to "Display adapters". What graphics card name appears after that?

Okay mine seems to be different to yours somehow but I still found it. I looked at all the stuff and (I'm using a laptop just for a bit of extra info (Also I did not build this it's just stock and it is not worth buying better parts for this)) Graphics card name is... I dunno there are two names so I'll say them both first name is "Intel(R) HD Graphics Family" and the second one is "igdumdx32.dll". Also this driver is back from 2010. I think the laptop I have is a Lenovo ThinkPad t420 if you need to know anything like that.
JohnnyGui Aug 22, 2014 @ 2:05pm
Ok, I'm not sure why it says igdumdx32.dll as a second graphics card but you should have a nVidia NVS 4200M and an Intel HD Graphics 3000 based on the notebook's name you have given.

The thing is these cards are not really fit for games and that could be the problem. However, you can always try to update its drivers and see if it solves the problem.

I could give you the links for the driver but first I want to make verify the graphics card you have. Please do the following:
1.Click Start.
2.On the Start menu, click Run.
3.In the Open box, type "dxdiag" (without the quotation marks), and then click OK.
4.The DirectX Diagnostic Tool opens. Click the Display tab.
5.On the Display tab, information about your graphics card is shown in the Device section. You can see the name of your card, as well as how much video memory it has

Also what operating system are you running? (Windows 7 or 8? 64 or 32 bit?)

Name: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family DAC Type: Internal Approx. Total Memory: 1460MB Current Display Mode: 1366 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz). There is most likely stuff there you don't need but I just wanted to be sure. Oh and I'm running Windows 7.

Actually I'd like to add something. I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601).

Thanks for the info, there seems to be a new driver for your laptop's graphics card available on the Lenovo support website.
Just select Display and Video graphics in the "Components" drop-down menu and Windows 7 32-bit in the "Operating System" menu and it will appear as the very first link (called: Intel (R) Graphics Driver dated 8/11/2014):

http://support.lenovo.com/il/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t420?type=Laptops-and-netbooks&c=1

In case you couldn't find it, here is the direct download link:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/83d537ww.exe

Install that and see if it fixes the issue.
