Water level

I remember a lot of people talking about how the part of the game where you have to jump on boxes to avoid wicked water reptiles is hard, but I only died once (because I decided to stand on a barrel on the second part instead of just running)


Is there a more difficult level that everyone is talking about or did I just get really lucky?

People remember it being difficult because it is scary, more in the first time when you have no idea what the game is about to throw at you. I don't remember many deaths on the let's plays I've seen.

The Choir is the most difficult level in my opinion purely due to the size of the level and there being no clear path to follow. Not to mention that there are 6 potential monster spawns in the choir.

From what I've gathered the water levels are all about taking the initiative. You've gotta think it through and above all, go fast as hell.

Never release the run button and distract the creature with boxes and meat.

I found it tense, but I never found the monster itself to be scary, as in some cases you can easily kill it by smashing it with an object, or just distract it easily.

I thought it would be harder when I first heard people talking about it, but I just carried a box around and climbed on it whenever I had to distract the monster.

It's tense, 'cause it's one of the few parts of the game where you have to be in the same room as the monster knowing that he could get you anytime, but it's not actually hard.

Try out Amnesia: Justine. The last chase is quite difficult and nerve wracking, especially if you will try to save the last prisoner while beaing chased. You can play this expansion by selecting in startup settings of the game.
